Beckstones Glamping Pods is based on a 34 acre farm in the Lake District National Park, just ten minutes to Coniston, known for the Old Man of Coniston and Coniston Water. There are two dog friendly ensuite pods surrounded by open countryside with panoramic views. The site is a wildlife sanctuary for birds, butterflies, deer and otters, and is also home to friendly alpacas. Torver village is a 15 minute walk, with a pub and deli.

About the site


Based in a quiet hamlet just ten minutes from Coniston, this family and dog friendly glamping site has been run by three generations and is an ideal countryside base in the Lake District National Park. Take a hike up the Old Man of Coniston (15 minute drive), a quiet stroll or boat trip along the banks of Coniston Water (10 minute walk), or enjoy a meal and tipple in the local pub in Torver (15 minute walk). The site has two ensuite glamping pods sleeping four and facing Torver Common and Torver Beck. Both are insulated with underfloor heating and include a double bed and a sofa bed. There is a smart TV, dining space with table and chairs and a kitchenette with a small fridge/freezer, hob, kettle, toaster, microwave, crockery and utensils. Bedding and towels are provided. Outside, there is a decking area with seating and a picnic bench, as well as a BBQ/ fire pit. Take in the panoramic views of Coniston Old Man and Dow Crag and spot some local wildlife, including birds, deer, otters and the site's resident herd of alpacas and flock of sheep. For little ones, both cot and highchair hire is available free of charge. Eggs, charcoal and logs are all available to buy onsite, and there is also space to park one car alongside each pod. Both the pods are dog friendly, with one large, two small or two medium dogs allowed per pod, at an extra charge. BBQs and fires are allowed in the BBQ/ fire pit outside the pod, but they are not allowed on the decking area.

Each of the two pods are self-contained, with ensuite bathrooms and kitchenettes with a fridge/freezer and hob. Each pod is fully insulated with underfloor heating. There's also free WiFi in both pods and eggs, charcoal and logs are all available to buy onsite.

The site can also make your stay extra special by arranging flowers, wine, balloons and chocolates if you're celebrating a special occasion, at an additional charge.

The local village of Torver is a 15 minute walk or under five minute drive away. Please note that there is no pavement along the road for part of the walk. Torver is home to a local pub, a deli and cafe and an art studio. Further shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes can be found in Coniston, a ten minute drive away.

A note from the site themselves...

Beckstones Farm has been in our family for three generations, and we decided to diversify so guests can share the beautiful place we get to call home.

We have a flock of sheep, a herd of alpacas chickens and ducks, and we can't wait to welcome you soon!

Things to do on site and in the Coniston area

Based in the Lake District National Park, there's so much to do in the local area. Coniston Water is just a ten minute walk, perfect for paddleboarding, wild swimming, or just relaxing on the shore.

Walks are endless here. Torver Back Common and Low Common are both on the doorstep, with scenic lakeside circular routes. The site is also a great starting point for the Old Man of Coniston and Dow Crag hikes.

The Hill Top house, shop and garden, Beatrix Potter's farmhouse and her inspiration for her famous stories, is just 25 minutes away, and Lake Windermere, England's largest natural lake, is a 30 minute drive, known for boating, wild swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

Coniston village is just a ten minute drive away with a museum, shops, cafes, pubs and boat hire, and Torver village is a 15 minute walk away, with a pub, cafe and deli.
