About the site

The family-friendly site enjoys an idyllic location set in the heart of Norfolk's winding hills. Guests can enjoy a unique experience, set in the grounds of a stunning old windmill right onsite that guests can climb up and marvel at the breathtaking countryside views. There are 15 grass pitches with optional electric 16 amp hook-up, all measuring a spacious 12m x 8m. All of the pitches are suitable for tents, trailer tents, caravans, campervans, motorhomes and RVs, allowing up to six guests each. For those wanting something a little extra, opt for one of the two onsite shepherd's huts, Ryeland and Romney. Both have a double bed, with Romney having space for a child's camping bed on the floor which can be added on as a bookable extra. Each features a well-stocked kitchenette, complete with a toaster, kettle and fridge. Both huts are warm and cosy and have their own outdoor seating and cooking area, perfect for a spot of al fresco dining. Have a go at making your own bread or treat yourself to some freshly baked bread and cakes at the onsite bakery, or venture off into the countryside as there is a plethora of trails nearby. Guests can also grab breakfast, lunch and treats at the onsite tea rooms with a games room with a TV for chilling out! Evenings can also be spent cooking up a BBQ or toasting marshmallows over the fire pit, as long as both are raised from the ground and burn smokeless fuel. Dogs are allowed onsite, including in the shepherd's huts, just please keep them on the lead at all times.

Bircham Windmill is open from 27/03 to 26/09. Pitches from £36/night for 2 people.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Apr 2026

We had a wonderful stay at Bircham Windmill. We booked a shepherd's hut as well as our campervan and everything was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic facilities, there were lots of extra touches for both the campers and the shepherds hut including clean bathroom mats for each user. The shepherd's hut was more than fully equipped including a fridge. The toilets were very clean and the showers nice and hot with good pressure. The games room gave us a reprieve from the cold and the kids enjoyed it. The play area near the campsite was great to keep the kids busy while we were cooking or packing. Lots of outside places to play. Any small issues we had were dealt with immediately. We also spent a full day at the windmill; baking, climbing to the top and enjoying the homemade food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you Elly and staff.

A wonderful campsite!

VW-Type Campervan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Apr 2026

This was a quiet, well-kept campsite with lots of lovely touches. The location was great - out in the countryside so really quiet but only 30 mins drive to King's Lynn for access to lots of shops like Tesco Extra. We really enjoyed the no music policy and the games room was great with a pool table, foosball table, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettles and microwave. The stack of clean bathmats and tea towels that were available for guests to use and then place in the washing basket was a thoughtful touch. We would definitely return.

Great little site

VW-Type Campervan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2025

A great little site. It's about a 15 minute drive from Hunstanton and is a bit remote however this made for a lovely calm stay. The cafe and bakery were a great plus and the staff were all really friendly. Toilets and showers well kept and the stacks of clean bath mats were very welcome. The games room is a great idea for those days when you need a break from the weather. We will definitely visit again next year.

A note from the site themselves...

A family run tourist attraction, windmill and bakery, we are 7th generation millers and bakers stretching back to the 19th century and the mill has run as a tourist attraction since 1980.

We love running the site as we want to share this beautiful part of Norfolk, allowing people to camp so close to the mill, surrounded by fields, beautiful open skies, no light pollution, no passing traffic, just little owls, oystercatchers, curlews and more.

We are extremely proud of our staff and their passion to go above and beyond, and guests really do love the little extras we add, as well as feeding the pony over the fence! We hope you'll feel relaxed and able to unwind and recharge.
