Birchbank is a small campsite on a Lake District sheep farm, located on the fells between Coniston Water and the Duddon Estuary. The site has a small stream running through it which the children love to play in and is next to the fell, with footpaths and bridleways directly from the gate making it ideal for walking and cycling.

Really enjoyed our stay here, lots of lovely flat grass pitches not far from facilities. Lovely views from the site. Road a little windy to get there from Coniston but absolutely fine!

We loved our stay here. The facilities were regularly cleaned and although basic gave us everything we needed. The local area is beautiful and we did a couple of the recommended walks which were stunning. Our children loved playing in the stream and watching the farm animals every day.
Lovely, quiet site kept spotlessly clean

Was perfect for those who like to get away from it all. Lovely and peaceful. Facilities kept nice and clean. A 20 minute drive from Ulverston.

The 4 of us stayed at Birchbank and we all had a lovely time in our little corner of the field next to the stream. There were 3 showers, 3 loos and 2 sink areas and we never had to wait to use the facilities. The facilities are basic but the water was always so lovely and hot so no worries from us at all! It was lamb season so amazing to sit and watch the animals across the fields. The cows are a vocal, but we appreciated that we stayed literally right next door to their barn and nothing ear plugs can't help with at night! Very peaceful couple of days and no trouble with any noise or disruption etc. We cycled to the nearest pub but it was a tricky ride as very hilly, so something to consider as there isn't anywhere within a short walking distance. You do need your car to drive around. Would recommend and a good price! Thanks!
Brilliant place, perfect stay!

A lovely farm with beautiful surroundings! Plenty of space on the site, very peaceful. Lots of walks from site too. Shower/toilet block very clean and were continuously kept clean throughout the day. If you're looking for a laid back campsite, this is it. We will be back in the future.

Absolutely a stunning, beautifully located campsite with excellent facilities, friendly owners and perfect places to walk. Our dog loved it too. Saw wild hoses, lots of sheep and pheasants. Highly recommend this farm, will definitely be back time and time again.

Great place to stay for walkers. We were out of season so very quiet, the facilities might not be up to it if the site is full though. Fantastic dark night skies, no noise or light pollution. Footpaths from the site in all directions although lots of sheep so the dog was on the lead quite a bit.

Brilliant! Lovely people, good long walks, near to Coniston, Ulverston, properly in the country, great to get away from it all! Farm superb, lovely views, two shower blocks, very clean. Sun shines in camping area, would go again.

Perfect for getting away from everything, you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere even though Ulverston is about 7 miles away and there's some fantastic scenery around the site. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the sheep going about their day too. The facilities were adequate and well-maintained, and there's a lovely little stream through the middle of the site. Would definitely recommend and hopefully we'll be back some time.

We had a great 2 nights camping in tent, a bit far from the lake and other shops, but if you go prepared you can have a great time.

In short, this was just what we were looking for! It's a small campsite in a very quiet rural area, it's on a working farm but it's literally in the middle of nowhere, which was perfect. The owners were lovely and very helpful when asking for information. It's got all the usual basic facilities for washing up, fridge/freezer, showers, sinks etc. The toilets and showers are unisex and they also have a larger cubicle for families. The pitches were spaced out and very generous, we had a large tent with electric hookup and had plenty of space to pitch up and for the car. It's such a lovely place to stay, even with the local farm life. Lots of local walks with beautiful views of the coast from the hills and The Old Man of Coniston. Shops are about half hour away in Ulverston, but it was easy to find. We loved our stay and plan to come back again after such a beautiful visit.

Lovely site and people. Little hard to push in tent pegs as ground is very stoney underneath soil.

Birchbank was a quaint little farm, way up in the hills away from any noise. It was a quiet, peaceful little getaway, perfect for our family to relax and enjoy nature. There are all the facilities you need including pot washing, fridges, showers, water tap and even a little stream running though the middle for the kids to play in.

Birchbank is a lovely little farm, secluded on the fells near Ulverston and Coniston. Local amenities are a short drive away, but not difficult to navigate if single track roads don't bother you. Facilities were basic but clean and in good working order. The campsite is small and quiet, ideal for families and backpackers. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Stunning scenery, clean and tidy pitches and good facilities, including laundry area with freezer, showers and toilets. Well off the beaten track but perfect for a quiet getaway within 20-30 minutes of Coniston and Windermere. The only slight downside was the cows who loved having conversations with each other in the middle of the night! Highly recommend this site though.
