Was a nice site. Very basic, very rural and wild, which was nice. Said they had Wi-Fi, but wasn't working when we were there and no phone signal. Had electric hook up, but kept tripping out so wasn't the best.
Overall, nice stay, no shops for miles, lol. Oh yeah, there was one shower in the men's toilet and women's and in the disabled toilet. Not enough for the size of the site.
Okay but very basic

Small Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024
It's ok, very basic. Lots of slugs. Electric kept tripping. Full of flies, but my little lad enjoyed it and we made some lasting memories.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Hideaway in the Hills however I am very taken aback and very disappointed with the low score especially for things that are out of our control and certainly does not reflect our campsite.
We're delighted to hear your son enjoyed his time and that you made lasting memories. I believe he especially enjoyed canoeing on our lake in our Canadian canoe.
Unfortunately, slugs and midges are more active when it's warm and damp conditions we have been experiencing. In hot, dry weather slugs bury themselves in the soil or hide in cool, dark places to avoid dehydrating.
Yes we are a basic campsites in that we do not have shops, cafes and entertainment - but rather back to nature, and the next best thing to nearly wild camping.
Unfortunately you did not mention your electric hook up kept on tripping or we could have easily advised you accordingly which electrical equipment was suitable to use. We have a limited electrical supply and as stated in the description, we provide mostly 6amp electric hook-ups therefore appliances with high wattage, for example household kettles rather than a low wattage camping kettle, will trip the supply.
I hope you will visit us again during more favourable weather conditions and make even more precious lasting memories.
A beautiful, quiet camping site

Medium Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024
A beautiful campsite in stunning surroundings. We camped under the trees next to a gentle flowing stream.
We had a campfire every night on the provided fire pit. Well priced logs/kindling and they lasted us well.
Lots of exploring can be done on foot in and around the site. There's a lake and a canoe if you fancy it. We didn't get time, but will next time.
