Beddgelert campsites
Snowdonia's best kept secret, Bedgelert campsites are ideal for reaching both the Aberglaslyn Pass and Snowdon. Not only that, but the village has an interesting folkloric history in its own right, a cottage owned by the National Trust and the serene merging point of two Welsh rivers to its name. Don't miss the Sygun Copper Mine and the beauty of the surrounding lakes, forests and steep slopes of the national park.

You'll be immersed in forested vales, rugged slopes and mountain lakes as still as a mirror- the perfect setting for exploration.
Though named after a little known saint, the village is linked with the legend of Gelert the dog and there's plenty of rich historic background to dig into. Visitors can learn about the legend through a trip to Gelert's Grave which can be combined with an easy walk from the village along the River Glaslyn. The walk is a wonderful way to experience the village's beautiful natural surroundings.
Also well worth visiting is the intriguing Sygun Copper Mine which is a fun outing for kids and adults alike. Less than a mile from the village, the mine is a fascinating attraction that enables visitors to explore underground tunnels, chambers and more on a self-guided audio-visual tour.
Plus there's plenty to do aboveground too including exploring the Museum of Antiquities and letting the kids burn off some energy in the fun play areas. Spending time simply strolling through the lovely stone-built village is a great way to pass a few leisurely hours and get to know Wales properly.
On your tour, don't miss Ty Isaf, a cottage steeped in history that is now managed by the National Trust and sells the best of local traditional produce. You can find the spot, also, where two rivers meet in the village- the Glaswyn and the Colwyn- in a romantic bridge at the heart of Beddgelert.
A choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes are enticing spots for a refreshing drink or a bite to eat, while the local shops in and close to the village are tempting places to browse and perhaps pick up a souvenir.
The village is an ideal base for exploring the stunning landscapes of the Snowdonia National Park. Several attractive places close to the village are sure to tempt outdoor enthusiasts, such as the pretty valley known as Nant Gwynant with its picturesque lakes, Llyn Gwynant and Llyn Dinas.
Walkers and climbers will also enjoy discovering Craig Cwm Silyn, the highest point on the Nantile Ridge. Just a mile from the village is Beddgelert Forest, a stretch of woodland with all you could need for a day in the outdoors: marked trails and plenty of picturesque picnic spots. In addition, bikes can be hired from Beddgelert Bikes for sightseers who are keen to discover the area on two wheels. Climbers love to test themselves on the rocky sides of the Llanberis Pass not too far from Beddgelert.
The village is a very popular place to stop on the Welsh Highland Railway which will take you on to Caernarfon or Porthmadog.
