About Bwch yn Uchaf

This is a family-friendly site, just a 10-minute drive from Tegid Lake and the Bala Lake Railway next door. The River Twrch runs alongside and makes for some lovely onsite walks. The main area of the campsite is open to everyone and will suit campers wanting more space and privacy with pitches near the river. Pitches are unallocated, so you can choose where to pitch (unless stated otherwise). There is also a ¾ acre Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site with 12 hook-up points, eight of which are hardstanding. The pitches are level and partly sheltered. Fires are allowed, as long as its raised from the ground and won't cause damage. Fire pits are available to hire, and bags of wood/kindling are available to purchase. There is virtually no light pollution here so you can camp underneath the stars and with the sounds of the river, sheep and the steam train chugging past four times daily! Please note that the site does not accept groups (even when booked separately).

Bwch yn Uchaf is open from 22/03 to 29/10.

We have been coming to Bwch Yn Uchaf for 6 years, it never disappoints! The site is beautifully looked after, the facilities are clean and the children have loads of things to do. Due to the glorious weather we actually spent a couple of our days onsite chilling out. The children didn't say they were bored once! We will keep coming back for the amazing scenery, warm welcome and quiet evenings. Thanks to Bethan and Gareth for another wonderful stay.

Fabulous campsite! Facilities are great, well maintained, clean and ample. Lovely surroundings with the river running through and the night sky was well worth paying for! Right next to the Bala Lake Railway which is also worth the trip. All around great and will definitely be back!

Beautiful campsite! We loved our stay here Gareth and Bethan were so helpful, the facilities were always clean and it was a pretty and peaceful place to stay. On a clear night, the stars are so bright and getting to choose your own pitch is a real bonus!
