Things to do when camping in Gwynedd
Gwynedd offers mountains, forests walks sandy beaches, and waterfalls, and is an area rich in history and heritage making it a popular place to visit.
History lovers will enjoy taking a tour of the many heritage castles and buildings in the area. A trip the Caernarfon Castle is a must see, a world heritage site, this imposing building dates back to medieval times.
Penrhyn Castle is another majestic building with fantastic gardens, and Conwy Castle is another building of note. Criccieth castle sits on a hill and offers great views out to sea, while the ruins of Cymer Abbey, Deganwy Castle, and the striking Bangor Cathedral are also well worth a visit.
Interesting family friendly attractions you may wish to visit include the Sygun Copper Mine where you can learn about the mining process which was so important to the areas industrial history, the Ffestiniog Railway, the Llanberis Lake Railway, the National Slate Museum, the Lloyd George Museum, the Llechwedd Slate Caverns or Anglesey Sea Zoo. The Gwynedd Museum and Art Gallery houses an interesting and varied collection. The Snowdon Mountain Railway takes you right to the summit and is another must do.
Whether you prefer coast of countryside, gorgeous scenery is on offer all around. Llyn Peninsula extends 30 miles into the Irish Sea and is where you can find clean sandy beaches to enjoy too.
