About Ling's Meadow

In this rural gem you have the choice of bringing your own tent to set up in the grass, or hiring one of three glamping options. The camping meadow is left as wild as possible so you really feel like you are a part of your environment. Each of the five pitches is surrounded by tall grass in the height of summer so you have your own private space in the meadow, with a fire pit for campfires provided. As there are just a limited number of campers on site, the atmosphere is peaceful and friendly, with communal areas for when you want to get together but also enough space to find your own escape. For a taste of wild glamping you could book one of the two pre-pitched bell tents. These include an empty 5.5m bell tent with coir matting floor. Bring all of your own camping kit and beds. Outside the tent you have a canvas tarp cooking shelter and outdoor cooking kit including a kindling rocket stove, Kelly Kettle and cast iron Dutch oven and frying pan. The StarDome is a mix of a dome and yurt with a set of curved wooden arches that form a perfect hemisphere covered in canvas. It sleeps five in furnished comfort and there's a cosy stove here too to keep you warm. The StarDome is fully furnished and linen is provided (please bring towels). All of the cooking and dining kit that you need is included, along with a cool box, water carrier, one pot wood fired rocket stove, kelly kettle and cast iron pots and pans. StarDome has its own fire pit with a hanging grill and outdoor, undercover seating. The meadow is surrounded by fields set aside for nectar flowers and plants that feed the farmland birds. Walks lead directly from the campsite into the surrounding fields where you can see deer, owls, hare and kestrels. This is a place where you can feel confident that you are enjoying your stay whilst looking after the environment.

Ling's Meadow is open from 24/05 to 28/09.

Facilities and amenities

All site facilities are designed to have as little impact on the meadow as possible. There are two large, luxury composting loos, one shower heated by solar power and a wood fired rocket stove.

The camp kitchen has a washing up area, a pizza oven, BBQs, and lots of cooking and dining equipment to share. You'll also love the large canvas tent with tables and benches for get-togethers in the communal area.

There are fire pits and picnic benches for each pitch and free bikes available for guests so you can get out and explore.

There is a well stocked farm shop and cafe just a few hundred yards down the road and also pubs within walking distance of the campsite. Food parcels can be ordered that put together the best local produce from within a few miles of the meadow.

A note from the site themselves...

Happiness for me is wandering along the farm paths on a June evening. If I am lucky I will see the barn owl hunting and hares chasing each other. I will hear roe deer calling to each other and pheasants letting everyone know that they are going up to roost in the trees.

My husband and I wanted to share this joy so Lings Meadow campsite was born. Ten years on we have an eco campsite that we are exremely proud of. It sits within a farm that is now exclusively growing crops for wildlife and herbal leys for grass fed lamb. Our passion is to promote wildlife and plant diversity in our surrounding countryside, and to share this journey with our guests.

Small Tent - Grass Meadow PitchesSep 2023

Lovely, quiet site with low density of pitches allowing great sense of space. No cars in main field was a bonus. Well equipped kitchen area and communal teepee for those rainy days when the tent gets too small!

Lovely place!

Glamping Dome - StarDomeSep 2023

We really enjoyed our stay in the stardome, it was a really comfortable and warm glamping tent, with comfy beds and a wood burner inside. The campsite was above our expectations actually, nicely done toilets and shower area, everything you could need in the kitchen, and the different tent areas had enough space between them that your time there felt private without feeling alone. We made pizzas one night and Becca helped us set up the oven, which was fun. The whole place was done beautifully and we had a nice time sitting by the campfire and eating on our covered table! Would recommend 100%.

Medium Tent - Grass Meadow PitchesAug 2023

A lovely couple of days away. We enjoyed all the nice touches....very well presented eco toilets, a good kitchen area, our own firepit and picnic bench. Use of the pizza oven was a real treat. Our 9 year old girl loved exploring the simple pleasures of this campsite. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Clean and well kept. Peaceful and beautiful.
