The Cud Life is a family friendly site set on a working farm, ten minutes from Harrogate. The site offers grass pitches suitable for campers and tourers, with hardstanding pitches for campervans and caravans. About the site


This family and dog friendly site is ideal for those wanting to explore North Yorkshire, whilst providing a relaxing base for those wanting to take in what the site has to offer. Head out to Harrogate, just ten minutes drive away, or stop by the onsite cafe for a hearty breakfast or lunch. Choose from eight well spaced grass pitches with views across the farmland and 16 amp optional electric in the main field or in the orchard, suitable for tents, campervans and caravans. There are 12 hardstanding pitches with 16 amp optional electric, suitable for campervans and caravans You can walk to Harrogate in about 50 minutes, or just a 15 minute drive from the site is Knaresborough town, with another historic castle, a museum, local pubs, cafes and eateries to enjoy, the River Nidd with walks down the river and through the town. Having the public footpath going directly through the farm, you can't get closer to starting a walk in either direction. Dogs are welcome to join you during your stay. Fire pits are not allowed. BBQ's under 50cm cannot be used on the grass, but can be used on gravel or the central area for cooking.

The facilites onsite include a shower and toilet block that is unisex with fully enclosed shower pods and large changing rooms, ideal for families and individuals. The block also has a baby changing unit, heated towel rails, non-slip flooring, wide doors, wash basins and soap dispensers, hand dryers, toilet rolls, shaver sockets, hairdryer and straighteners.

There are washing up sinks and draining boards available attached to the facility blocks. Hay is the onsite cafe serving breakfast, lunch and classic cafe treat. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 4:30pm.

It is a ten minute drive or 50 minute walk into Harrogate, where you can find a range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and cafes.


A note from the site themselves...

We love our little campsite, so much so that when there is space we have been known to stay ourselves in our family campervan! It's lovely to be able to offer guests a peaceful stay amongst the Yorkshire countryside while also being so close to towns such as Harrogate. We look forward to welcoming you and hope you love it as much as we do.

*Any behaviour deemed as being disrespectful to other campers or holiday cottage guests will result in removal from the campsite, there are no warnings or exceptions.

*Be respectful of other guests and your surroundings.

*The Cud Life is a quiet, friendly site with no groups.

*No noise after 10.30pm - This includes music of any kind and loud chatting.

*Children must be supervised at all times - The site is a working farm and there are many dangers.

*Keep dogs on leads at all times and pick up after them - It is essential that all fouling is picked up due to the harm it can cause cattle. Please respect this and use the dog walking field which is clearly signposted. *Dogs must be on a lead at all times to protect the neighbours' sheep. Excessive barking is not acceptable and dogs must not be left unattended for this reason.

*All rubbish must be bagged. Your cooperation is appreciated in not leaving anything other than general food and domestic waste. Recycling can be left in the designated area.

*Please use the electricity, hot water and toilets with care and try not to be wasteful.

*Firepits are not permitted. (This includes BBQs used as firepits)


Things to do on site and in the Harrogate area

There is a walk from the site to Ripley Village (5 minutes), where you will find ice cream shops, tea rooms and Ripley Castle. You can visit the castle to take in the history, take a stroll around the gardens and stop for a slice of cake and take in the views.

Just 15 minutes from the site is Knaresborough town, a market town with another historic castle, with the added fun of a museum. There are local pubs, cafes and eateries to enjoy, as well as Mother Shipton's Caves and the River Nidd, where you will find scenic walks down the river and through the town.

For an ideal family day out, there is Stockeld Park, where kids can enjoy outdoor mazes, inflatable obstacle courses, indoor play areas and more. Then you can stop for food at a range of places, including a pizzeria and a woodland cafe.
