Cross the dam at Wistlandpound Reservoir to reach North Thorne Cottages and Glamping featuring bell and emperor tents, a vintage horsebox and gypsy wagons. Converted barns provide private, uniquely themed shower rooms, and atmospheric social space. The secluded south facing glamping field gives plenty of space, incredible views and often the sound of monkeys from Exmoor Zoo. Exmoor National Park and stunning beaches are also on your doorstep.
North Thorne Farm borders the stunning Wistlandpound Reservoir which offers amazing vistas, great walking and cycling trails, perfect for spotting local wildlife including deer, geese, ducks, herons and kingfishers. The beautiful location provides incredible long views across the stunning patchwork of Devon fields and hills and offers breathtaking night skies, Exmoor being the original Dark Sky Resort. The setting here is on the edge of Exmoor National Park with its dramatic scenery including coastal paths ideal for walking, cycling and driving. The wild ponies are a definite must-see. The site itself is beautifully maintained sitting in a five acre south facing field enclosed with Devon Banks and a pretty natural wildlife pond at its heart. The converted barns provide modern yet unique and nostalgic facilities. Accommodation is a blend of attractive yet comfortable, and just a little quirky, ranging from stylish bell tents to gypsy wagons and a converted horsebox! Each unit has its own covered cooking and seating area with gas cooker, BBQ, pots and pans, utensils and vintage crockery. All have a fire pit (logs can be bought onsite) for those star filled, marshmallow toasting family evenings. All bedding is provided, including blankets, to make you extra cosy. The shower rooms are particularly fun and include themes such as books, travel, farming, automobilia, music, 50's and steampunk. Your shower room is just for you for the duration of your stay so no sharing. A very warm welcome awaits at North Thorne Glamping with the owners attentive to guest's needs and can even provide cakes on arrival. There is also a beautifully restored two bed stone cottage onsite.
