About the site

Escape everyday life and enjoy the peace of your own cosy glamping pod, nestled within the beautiful Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve. Surrounded by stunning countryside, this getaway is ideal for nature lovers looking to explore the nearby Lake District or relax and unwind. There are five glamping pods, each sleeping two guests, with a comfortable king size bed, as well as all bedding, linen and towels. Each pod also has an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, toilet, sink, heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries. Inside, you'll find a well-equipped kitchenette, including a two-ring ceramic hob, toaster, kettle, microwave grill, fridge, crockery, pans and utensils. There's also a dining area, a comfy sofa, USB sockets, WiFi, a smart TV and a hairdryer. Outside, you'll have your own private decking with seating, a BBQ and a fire pit, perfect for al fresco dining while taking in the scenic views. Enjoy the countryside in peace and quiet, or head out to discover the walks and attractions of the Lake District National Park. Dogs are welcome in one designated pod and must be kept on a lead at all times. Open fires are welcome but only in the provided fire pits. Wood and charcoal may be purchased onsite.

This site is open from the 6th February to the 2nd November, and New Years. Stay from £115/night for 2 people (2-night minimum).

Each pod has its own self-contained facilities. There is super fast WiFi, an electric car charging point, a bike storage facility and a warm drying room for walking gear.

Wood and charcoal may be purchased onsite for use with the fire pit/BBQ.

A ten minute walk will take you to The Punch Bowl Inn, and for food shopping, Kendal is a 15 minute drive away and has Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's.

A note from the site themselves...

We started working on the groundwork for our campsite back in 2019 when Howard happily took early retirement! After lots of hard work, we were so pleased to finally open our doors to campers in August 2021.

After a few months, I also retired from working at our wonderful local pub, The Punchbowl Inn and now we both enjoy being onsite - Howard especially loves keeping the campsite tidy and cutting the grass!!! It's a real joy for us to meet all our lovely new guests and of course our regulars too.

We have always felt so lucky to live in the Lake District National Park, we really enjoy going out for walks and would now love to start exploring all the Wainwrights.

Things to do on site and in the Lyth Valley area

It's a 15 minute drive to Bowness on Windermere, where you can catch a steamer, relax and take in the scenery. Ambleside and Grasmere are also worth a visit, and don't forget to buy some famous Grasmere gingerbread. There are also lots of beautiful walks which can be started from Grasmere, Loughrigg, Helm Crag and Rydal Water, to name just a few.

The Levens Hall and Gardens is a 15 minute drive away and is home to the world's oldest topiary garden! An impressive estate with stunning flora and fauna.

Fell Foot National Trust is a short drive from the site, around ten minutes away. It's a great place to access the lake for wild swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding!
