In the South Downs with top dark sky views and access to the South Downs Way, ten minutes to Lewes

Family and eco friendly camping and glamping site with large bell tents and fire pits for hire

A unique foodie stay with daily breakfast and dinner cooked over a live fire using local ingredients

About the site

Enjoy panoramic views and wildlife across the South Downs National Park at this Dark Sky Reserve, set on the Firle Estate within ten minutes of the historic town of Lewes. Come together and experience unique gastro camping, with hosts cooking a range of meat and plant-based breakfasts and dinners over a lively wood fire using locally sourced ingredients. What's more, walkers and cyclists have direct access to the popular South Downs Way from the site. This eco-friendly base offers just 11 non electric grass pitches in a small meadow measuring 8m x 5m, suitable for tents, though five can accommodate campervans and motorhomes under 7m. There are also a handful of spacious 5m canvas bell tents with windows, sleeping up to eight guests. Each bell tent is equipped with comfy air beds (please bring your own bedding and towels), bedroom lighting, a table and two benches, with hot water bottles and blankets available on request. Please note that there are no cars on the pitches, so you will have to have wheelbarrows to transport things. Explore the small village of Firle, a 30 minute walk away, with its charming cottages, pub, shop, and the stately home of Firle Place. A farm shop is also just a 15 minute walk from the site. The site welcomes up to three dogs, though dogs are not allowed in the bell tents. Please ensure they are kept on their leads. BBQs and campfires are warmly welcomed for an evening under the stars. Fire pits and firewood can be hired on site, or guests may bring their own, provided all fires are raised off the ground.

Open from 1 May to 31 August.
