A peaceful, family friendly camping, touring, and glamping site in a scenic location just 30 minutes from the South Downs National Park, Sumners Ponds Fishery is set on a working farm and offers a range of facilities, including an onsite cafe, restaurant, bar, and well-stocked fishing lakes. The site is surrounded by footpaths and trails and has grass and hardstanding pitches, pods, shepherd's huts, bell tents, safari tents and lodges!

About the site


This family and dog friendly site is an ideal touring base, with many towns and villages close at hand. Horsham is a short 15 minute drive, while Brighton is 50 minutes away offering its incredible coastline, pubs, independent shops and cafes. Access to the South Downs is easy, with scenic trails less than 30 minutes away. Guests can choose from spacious grass and hardstanding pitches, both electric and non electric, suitable for tents, caravans, motorhomes, and campervans. For those seeking extra comfort, there's a wide selection of glamping options, including small and family sized camping pods with electricity, heating, and an outdoor picnic table, some offering lakeside views. The site also has four shepherd's huts with courtyard or lakeside views, each equipped with a double bed, bedding, table, chairs, and a small fridge. For maximum comfort, guests can stay in spacious one of the two ensuite safari tents or one of the four ensuite lodges, both well-equipped! For larger groups, there's a family field for tourers and campers while those wanting a full back-to-basics trip can pitch up on the non electric rally field for both tourers and campers. Guests will also have access to the five stocked fishing ponds onsite and a handy tackle shop open seven days a week, filled with all your fishing essentials. Onsite are several dining options, including a cafe, restaurant, and seasonal food van serving a range of hot and cold meals. For those looking to unwind, a bar is also available. Sorry, campfires are not permitted however BBQs are but they must be gas or charcoal. Your four-legged friends are welcome to join you!

Onsite, guests will find a facilities block on each park with toilets and showers for both men and women, a disabled toilet, laundry and washing-up areas, plus two communal fridges and freezers. The fishing lake is available for use at an additional cost, open from 7am-9pm or until dusk, whichever comes first. A bait and tackle shop is also onsite.

For dining, enjoy the onsite cafe serving drinks, hot food, pastries, and cakes, the restaurant offers burgers, pizzas, and fish and chips, or the bar, open daily from 9am-4pm (kitchen closes at 3pm). During summer and select evenings, food vans serve meals from 5:30pm. There is also a small kid's play area located in Bluebell Park.

Guests will also find a reception. For those bringing a furry friend, two dog exercise paddocks are available for hire.

Within a five minute walk, guests can visit the local pub, The Queen's Head, while a Lidl supermarket is just a ten-minute drive away.

2.5m x 3.5 m camping pod suitable for five adults. The pods are heated and include electricity, and guests will find a decking area and a picnic table outside. Bedding or mattresses are not provided.

3 x Small Lakeside Pod (Dog Friendly)

Max 4 people

Camping pod with lake views and measuring 2.3m x 2.7m. These pods sleep up to four and contain electricity, heating, lighting an outside decking and a picnic table. Please bring bedding and mattresses. These pods include exclusive swim for fishing.

Family Lakeside Pod (Dog Friendly)

Max 5 people

Family pod measuring 2.5m x 3.5m with heating, electricity, and lighting. Guests have their own decking, a picnic table, and lakeside views. Bedding and mattresses are not included please bring your own. Pods include exclusive swimming for fishing.

*Pitch check-in time is from 1pm and must be vacated by 12pm on the day of your departure. Pod and bell tents check-in is from 2pm and check out is by 10am. The log cabins, safari tents, lodges, and shepherd's huts check-in time is from 4pm and check out times are also by 10am.

*Campfires are not permitted.

*BBQs are allowed but must be gas or charcoal only.

*If you would like to fish during your stay, you will need to purchase tickets for that specific date.

*Noise must kept to a minimum after 10.30pm.

*A maximum of three pitches is permitted for one group.

*No more than three tents, caravans, motorhomes, accommodation units or a combination of staying together on site.

*The site speed limit is 5mph.

*Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead in the camping areas and around the lakes.

*One vehicle per pitch and no movement between 7am and 11pm.


Things to do on site and in the Horsham area

Onsite, you will find five spectacular fishing lakes suitable for all ages and experiences. From carp to chub and all the way up to pike, there is plenty here for any angler to catch in these waters.

Surrounding the site are various miles of footpaths and bridleways leading through picturesque countryside and stunning natural settings. Whether you're a hiker, cyclist, or simply after a peaceful stroll, National Trust's Box Hill and the South Downs National Park are both just a 30 minute drive away.

Horsham a historical market town with a variety of independent shops and traditional pubs is a 15 minute drive. If you're a big fan of birds, Huxley's Birds of Prey Centre and Gardens (20 minutes) is sure to put a smile on your face with its birds of prey.

And if you're craving some sea air, Brighton Beach is just 50 minutes away, offering not only a scenic coastline but also the vibrant city atmosphere of The Lanes with its shops and coffee spots.
