About the site

Set in the heart of the Lake District, this site enjoys spectacular panoramic views across the surrounding mountains and beautiful lakes, including Derwent Water. A peaceful getaway from busy roads, it's the ideal base for couples and families looking to explore the area, just five minutes from Keswick and within easy reach of the M6 for days out further afield. Surrounded by countryside, the only sounds you'll hear are the noises of nature and perhaps the neighbouring sheep! The campsite offers spacious, fairly level grass pitches for tents, with electric pitches available to book in advance. Guests can park beside their tent, with hardstanding parking available during winter. Non electric camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be pre-booked. Tourers can enjoy scenic views from hardstanding pitches with an electric hook up. Dogs are welcome to join your stay. Small raised BBQs are permitted, but disposable BBQs are not allowed.

Guests have access to toilets and showers with shaving points and hair dryers, as well as accessible and baby changing facilities. A dishwashing area and laundry room are available. WiFi can be used for a small charge.

The shop and reception area have communal freezers for ice packs and fridges, as well as gas exchange and battery charging. Dogs have access to a dog walk and a doggie shower.

For additional essentials, Booths in Keswick is a ten minute drive away. The Heights Hotel pub is within a five minute walk, serving food and drink.

Site rules and policies

* Dogs must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times.

* Disposable BBQs are not permitted. No open fires or generators.

* Group bookings are not accepted.

* One unit/tent per pitch.

* There is a quiet policy from 10:30pm to 7am.

Things to do on site and in the Keswick area

A 25 minute walk from the site takes you to the top of Walla Crag, or in the other direction, you can visit the ancient monument Castletigg Stone Circle.

A 25 minute stroll through the woods brings you into Keswick town, where you will find the theatre by the lake, cinema, parks, indoor swimming, climbing wall and an abundance of shops and cafes.

Move over Stonehenge, it's time for the mysteries of Castlerigg Stone Circle here and then a chance to walk Cumbria's stunning fells and crags - Latrigg, Cat Bells, Grisedale Pike and much more.

If you're feeling lonely, turn your walk into a surreal experience thanks to the local company, Alpacaly Ever After, which will bring you and the kids on a stroll with their adorable alpacas.

Mirrorlike Derwent Water is just begging to be explored, so get lost in its network of intriguing footpaths. Or, board a boat and watch the shoreline bob into the distance. (Launch tickets can be purchased onsite).

Mountain climbers could get their muscles in order indoors at the Keswick climbing centre, and from there, enticing challenges await on all sides. Conquer Skiddaw, Knott and more from this ideal base.
