Things to do on site and in the Newquay area
From origins as a sleepy fishing village, Newquay is now one of the UK's most popular destinations, with beautiful beaches and some of the finest surfing in Europe. Boardmasters is Europe's biggest surfing and music festival - the Boardmasters which runs early August.
The site is alongside the beautiful 26 acre Trenance Leisure Park, with its award winning zoo and other attractions including boating lake, Waterworld swimming pool, tennis centre, skate park, cafes, bowling green, pitch and putt course, play area, and riding stables.
Trenance Valley is one the prettiest parts of Newquay. The valley ends at the tidal River Gannel estuary, which is a haven for wild birds and is great for canoeing. There's also a lovely coastal walk alongside the estuary which reaches the sea at the fabulous Crantock Beach.
The many beaches are all within walking distance: Porth, Lusty Glaze, Tolcarne, Great Western, Towan and the famous Fistral Beach. Each has its own characteristics, but why not treat the family to surfing lessons, or join one of the many boats that regularly leave the harbour on fishing trips?
The more adventurous might like to try coasteering, zip wiring or jet skiing - all are readily available.
Other local attractions include:
- Blue Reed Aquarium
- Springfields Fun Park
- Lappa Valley Railway
- Pirates Quest
- Healey's Cyder Farm
Newquay is also a good base for exploring Cornwall by car, train or coach - and nowhere is too far away.
Walkers will find that the South West Coast Path is easily accessible.
