Nestled between the sandy beaches of Portreath and Porthtowan on the Cornish coast, you'll find Cambrose Campsite. The site has a range of facilities, including a heated outdoor swimming pool, a shop, a games area with a pool table and a play area. Campers and tourers can choose from grass or hardstanding pitches, some with electric hook ups. The Coast to Coast cycle path runs directly from the site, and you're just 15 minutes from St Ives!

About the site

Based on the north coast of Cornwall between the sandy beaches of Portreath and Porthtowan, and just 15 minutes to St Ives Bay, this family run site is a great base to explore the local area. Enjoy direct access to the Coast to Coast cycle path leading to Portreath, where you'll be rewarded with pubs and cafes and a sandy beach. From here, you can also take the South West Coast Path for longer seaside hikes. Onsite, you'll find spacious grass pitches for tents, trailer tents, roof tents, caravans, campervans and motorhomes measuring 9m by 9m, some with a 16 amp electric hook up. Those with campervans and motorhomes can also choose an electric hardstanding pitch measuring 6.5m by 6.5m. Please note that awnings, gazebos and pup tents are welcome on the grass pitches but not allowed on the hardstanding pitches. Units longer than 7.5 metres are not allowed. Enjoy a range of top facilities for all the family, from a children's play area, a playing field, an onsite stream to paddle in, a covered games area with a pool table, and, during peak season, free use of the outdoor heated swimming pool. BBQs and firepits are permitted, but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times. Bricks are available onsite for this if needed, and fire kits and logs are sold in the onsite shop. Dogs are welcome, with up to two pups permitted per pitch.

The site is open from Easter until October.

Onsite facilities include men's and ladies' toilets and rainforest showers. There's also an accessible toilet and shower, washing up area, laundry with a coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer, and a wetsuit wash.

For family fun, there's a heated outdoor pool (open during peak season). Please note that the pool is 1m deep and does not have a lifeguard, so children must be supervised at all times. There's also a family games area with seating and a pool table, as well as a children's playground.

For picking up the essentials, there's an onsite shop selling firewood kits, logs, cold drinks, ice creams and every day items. Bricks are also available for keeping BBQs and fire pits raised off the ground. There's also a pop-up cafe serving coffees and pastries.

Larger supermarkets can be found a five minute drive away in Redruth. There are also plenty of dining out options in both Redruth and Portreath, all within a ten minute drive.

Level and well maintained non electric grass pitches measuring 9m by 9m. Pitches suitable for tents, trailer tents, roof tents, caravans, campervans and motorhomes. A gazebo, pup tent, and an awning are all welcome.

Electric Grass Pitches

Electric Hardstanding Pitches

Max 4 people

Electric hardstanding pitches measuring 6.5m by 6.5m with 16 amp electric hook up and suitable for campervans and motorhomes. Note that awnings, gazebos and pup tents are not allowed. Parking is not allowed by the pitch.

Site rules and policies

*Check-in from 2pm until 6pm.

*Check out by 11am.

*At least one person must be aged 18 or over.

*Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead, the site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

*Small fire pits are allowed providing they are raised off the ground.

*No large groups, hen, stag parties allowed.

*This is a cashless site.

*No vehicles over 7.5 meters without prior approval.

*Please contact the site for Twin Axel caravan bookings.

*Quiet hours between 10pm-7am.

*Disruptive behaviour or anyone under the influence of drugs/excessive alcohol will not be tolerated on site.

*Only park guests are authorised to use the swimming pool.

*Children must be supervised in the swimming pool at all times as there is no lifeguard on duty.

*BBQs and firepits are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times. Bricks are available onsite for this if needed.

*Visitors are not permitted onsite.

*No driving onsite after 11pm.

*Supermarket deliveries are not permitted.

A note from the site themselves...

Cambrose is great for families or couples looking for a smaller site with the benefits of facilities only bigger sites have, like the heated pool, games area and laundrette. Here you can enjoy all these facilities without the hustle and bustle of some of the mainstream sites.

Our site also has the benefit of being a mile away from two fantastic beaches, with an adjacent cycle track. Portreath beach offers a tidal pool, rock pools and the famous seawater baths carved into the rocks that you can access when the tide is out.

Porthtowan has a great laid back surfer feel with beautiful rolling sand dunes, white sand and crystal clear water, plus plenty of great pubs and bars you can catch the sunset from.

Things to do on site and in the Portreath area

Onsite, there's plenty to keep you busy, with a games room, play area, a stream for paddling and a heated outdoor swimming pool, open during peak season.

Of course, North Cornwall is known for its beaches, and here you'll be spoilt for choice! Take the Coast to Coast cycle path directly from the site to Portreath village and beach, where you can access the South West Coast Path and enjoy stunning coastal scenery.

There are plenty of other beaches nearby too, including Porthtowan (five minutes), St Ives Bay (15 minutes), Gwithian (20 minutes), and the popular Newquay, with beach, zoo and Blue Reef Aquarium (30 minutes), to name a few!
