Things to do in Falmouth
Choose to discover Cornwall at a laidback pace by picking Falmouth as your holiday destination and you certainly won’t feel let down by the range of activities on offer. Be as active as you feel like and enjoy a slice of the high life in this quaint seaside town.
You shouldn't miss the stunning seafront parade and its range of eateries which offer the most delicious freshly caught seafood. Make a day of it and peruse the Lifeboat Station with a guided tour, or perhaps enter the National Maritime Museum for a fascinating insight into the local history of Falmouth. Both places have excellent facilities for the kids, with lots to do and see.
When it comes to the great outdoors, you’re spoilt for choice. Is it stunning beaches which offer a range of watersports including surfing and sailing, or taking a trip along the beautiful coastline for a stroll? Gyllyngvase Beach is perfect for an ice cream in the sunshine, or Swanpool Beach and Nature Reserve boasts its own surf school as well as other activities including costeering, kayaking and diving too. The coastal wildlife tours are certainly not to be missed.
If you fancy exploring more inland, the Queen Mary Gardens is an idyllic spot to relax after a day of sightseeing, or the nearby Glendurgan Garden is a real treat for nature lovers. Trebah Garden, which contains a beautiful sub-tropical garden and its very own secluded beach, is just a short walk from the seafront.
Pendennis Castle has an informative WWI exhibition and discovery centre, plus is the best place for photos with its sea views, especially in the summer months. Creatives won’t want to miss the Falmouth Art Gallery, which has a reputation for great work by talented local artists and boasts both traditional and contemporary styles.
Further afield, Lizard Point, the city of Truro and the towns of Penzance and St Ives can all be reached in less than an hour by car.
