About Holmescales Campsite

A small site set in countryside, Holmescales is conveniently within 15 mins of Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale. Access to two national parks is excellent thanks to the M6 (three miles away) and there's a train station taking you up to Scotland within a few miles too. All pitches are set on grass without electric and all offer tempting views of the Lakeland fells. You can prop your legs up by the campfire (raised off the ground, bring fire wood with you), try a BBQ and bring your well behaved dog with you. Couples and families are very welcome.

Holmescales Campsite is open from 01/04 to 31/10.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2023

We stayed here for our first night in our van. The site is very clean, lovely and spaced out and facilities are easy accessible and spotless. The views are spectacular and sunset was a treat. We are hoping to head back and do some activities in the coming months - thank you so much xx

A wet and windy weekend

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2024

Quite basic, but covered all of our quite basic needs. Very thankful to the guys at the site for giving us a tow out of a very boggy pitch after very heavy rainfall.

Beautiful location, does the job

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Oct 2023

Stayed for one night as we were passing through Kendal. We were one of two pitches so we had the place to ourselves. Beautiful location with a gorgeous view. Lights didn’t work in the toilets so take a torch. Shower water was lukewarm. But did the job.
