Castlerigg Hall Caravan and Camping Park is surrounded by one of Britain's most spectacular scenic sites, set in the heart of the English Lake District with access to attractive woodland walks and quiet country lanes. The park's elevated position provides wonderful panoramic views of the fells and is a fantastic starting point for walkers, hikers and cyclists to explore the national park.
About Castlerigg Hall Caravan and Camping Park
Castlerigg Hall Caravan and Camping Park's peaceful, elevated position provides wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding fells. Just beyond the park you'll find attractive woodland walks to Derwentwater, and an enigmatic 4000 year old stone circle steeped in mystery. The site is close to the east side of the lake and the beautiful market town of Keswick. For those who prefer to leave their car at the site, a bus stop close to the park makes it easy to explore the area, including the South Lakes and Grasmere. Here you have a picturesque and extremely well located base for exploring the Lakes. Catering for families and couples are hardstanding, fully serviced pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes, with electric hook ups, some even offering dramatic views of the Lakes. Camping pitches are also available on level or sloping ground and are suited to families rather than groups. Finally, there's the chance to go glamping in purpose-designed luxury pods that sleep between three and five people, with space for up to two dogs, and take in the views through large French doors. Castle Pods are equipped with beds, whereas camping pods are not. Either way, you'll be treated to electricity, a heater, picnic benches and a decking area. The brand new Inspire Pods include a made up bed, sofa and the luxury of a large flat screen TV. You'll have a kettle, toaster, fridge, shower and WC and double patio doors opening onto a large wooden deck area - it's the ultimate pod experience.
The site is open from the start of March until the start of November.

Things to do on site and in the Keswick area
Of course the first priority for many campers is walking and accessing the many scenic footpaths through the Lake District National Park. Climbing is also very popular since the site is close to Borrowdale, and well known for its climbing routes.
Cycling, with a crowd of country lanes close at hand, is another favourite, but there's also the chance to take things up a notch with mountain biking at the Whinlatter Forest Centre.
For those who prefer to be off dry land, the park is 1.5 miles from both sailing and canoeing at Derwentwater which provides stunning scenery to glide past and facilities to hire.
There are also museums such as the Pencil Museum, a theatre and a cinema in Keswick which make for great rainy day activities especially for families. Adults will love a tour of the Lakes Distillery and a tipple after learning all that goes into making a fine whisky.
