About the site
Set between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, this campsite offers a peaceful, back to nature stay on a family-run farm in the Cumbria countryside. Surrounded by fields, woodland and wildlife, it is a quiet spot where guests can switch off. With a gentle stream running through the site and plenty of open space, it is great for relaxing outdoors. The campsite offers car free camping, helping to keep the site safe for children. The Hobby Wood grass pitches measure 8m x 8m for tents only, with shared facilities nearby. The By the Beck pitches sit close to the water and measure 10m x 10m. These grass pitches also welcome tents only and come with their own simple facilities, with a private bucket toilet and shower hut for each pitch. Glamping is available in the Alder's Edge furnished bell tents, set near the stream. Each tent sleeps up to four people, with a comfortable double bed and additional camp beds. Bedding is only supplied for the double, but towels and bedding for the camp beds can be hired as an optional extra. Outside, there is seating and a fire pit for cosy evenings, along with access to a private toilet and shower hut for each tent. The site is surrounded by countryside and walking routes, including the nearby Hutton Roof National Nature Reserve (within a 30 minute walk). The stream is ideal for a paddle on warm days, and the charming town of Kirkby Lonsdale is just ten minutes away, offering shops, pubs and scenic riverside walks. To help protect the peaceful atmosphere and wildlife, the site is dog free. Fire pits and BBQs are welcome, as long as they are raised off the ground and always supervised by an adult. As parts of the site are unlit, guests are advised to bring a good quality torch for getting around after dark.
Puddlemire is open from 30/04 to 31/08. Stay from £26/night for 2 people (2-night minimum).
