Whether you're exploring the Dales or the Lakes, Little Acre Camping is ideal - only a 15 minute drive from both. Relax in the tent here and take the pooch for a stroll by the peaceful Lancaster Canal (just adjacent to site) or hop on a convenient bus to Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale (both just 7 miles away). Just across the road, about 100 metres away is the popular dog friendly Crooklands Hotel, with a bar and very good food served all day.

Couldn’t fault this site, impeccably well kept, great facilities and spotlessly clean. Paul couldn’t have been more helpful, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this site. We will definitely be back.

A lovely, friendly, well maintained site with good facilities and an additional wash block under construction. The location has good transport links including a reliable bus service into Kendal. The nearby Crooklands Bar/hotel serves food and the famous Lancaster Canal is close by. Overall, highly recommended!!

Just back from weekend at this site, the best camp site we have stayed on. Peaceful and relaxing, owners very friendly. They had complimentary toiletries and the facilities were cleaned to a high standard. Nice hot showers and also hairdryer in shower room was a bonus. Will be coming back x

We were a little worried with it being so close to the motorway but need not have worried, it was just a faint background noise definitely hidden by the bird song. A lovely little campsite, really friendly host with nothing too much trouble. Lovely walk along the canal and the pub just across the road with great food. Some lovely little touches by Susan such as a nail file in the toilets for when you broke a nail putting the tent up, poo bags and dog treats. We will definitely be back!!

Lovely campsite in an excellent location to explore the Lake District and beyond. The campsite was very quiet and peaceful. The owner was very friendly and seemed happy to help with anything we may need. A nice touch was the boxes of traditional outdoor games which you can borrow. Facilities are more than sufficient for the price. There is a block with two toilets and a shower next to the campervans and an additional block with one toilet and washing facilities next to the tent pitches. There is currently an additional toilet/shower block being built. There is a little road noise but this wouldn't stop us returning. Next time we come to the Lake District we will definitely be camping here again.

Incredible place to stay, the staff on site was super friendly and informative. The campsite itself was clean and very well maintained. The Wi-Fi was brilliant, we were streaming Netflix in our tent! The toilets and showers were in mint condition and really clean, loved the little glass jars of ear buds, cotton wool etc - it was a nice touch. Location was fantastic, canal is right next to the campsite so walking our 4 dogs was so enjoyable! Another amazing perk of this place is they accept up to 5 dogs! The place was opposite a pub/restaurant which we ate at and the food there is incredible. It's that good I'm coming back next Sunday just to eat there again! I would definitely return here again and recommend to others, couldn't have asked for anything better, thank you very much.

This site is amazing and Paul went absolutely above and beyond to help us during our stay when our car broke down a few miles away! Paul came to collect us and brought us back to site and was very helpful. Forever grateful! The site is clean and quiet and in a nice location. 100 percent would return and will recommend to others.

My partner and I chose Little Acre for our first camping adventure. All communication was seamless and owners were lovely and helpful. We were the only campers half term week and the weather wasn't great ,but the facilities were great and we managed to explore the area visiting Kendal, Ambleside and Grasmere.

Lovely little campsite just off the motorway and a short drive to the nearest village. There is a pub/restaurant across the road also. Owners were lovely and the were facilities clean. Shower was nice and warm and easy to use! Only teeny issue was the tent field is on a slight hill, so we found ourselves in a slump at other end of tent in the morning. Very funny but only stayed a couple of nights. Would still definitely stay again.

Brilliant site despite the weather. Lovely people run it. Small and friendly. Nice clean facilities. A bit of an incline in the field we were on but easy to get used to. Will be going again.

We were very happy with our stay in general. There are a few facilities that could be updated in relation to the shower and toilet blocks, some of the flooring and fittings could do with replacing. The site is quite close to the M6 and other major roads. This was not a problem during the day but in the night, it was very noticeable.

We've recently had planning permission granted for a new (and much larger) shower, loo and laundry block which will be getting built this winter. Your stay with us coincided with the Westmorland County Show, which is only a 1/4 mile from Little Acre and involves a lot of additional vehicle movements (especially at night) as livestock and materials are taken from the show field and replenished each day. Great location within walking distance to county show. Lovely walk with dog by the canal. Round the corner from a gastropub. What more could you ask for. On top of all that, first class service welcome and facilities.

Had a 3 day stay at this little gem of a site. Lovely grass to pitch on. Very clean and tidy. The guy in reception is lovely, couldn't help us enough. The facilities in the main block are really nice and clean. However more facilities are needed closer to the camping area, but I am aware this is happening next year. The only fault I had was more lighting round the site is needed. I took dog out at 1:30 in morning and it was pitch black and scared me to death walking on my own at that time even with the torch. I would recommend this site to family and friends and would definitely go back again.

The additional lighting is a toughie! We make sure that the loo block areas and pathways have subdued lighting around them, but we've deliberately kept lighting on the tent field to the absolute minimum - and the reason why? We get multiple people each year telling us how nice it is to have an unlit camping area where you can watch the stars at night. See you next year, Paul.

Fantastic site which is well situated for the Southern Lake District. The site is well kept with very good amenities. Staff were very welcoming & friendly. The Lancaster Canal is straight outside the gate and the Crooklands Hotel across the road serve excellent meals. A quiet site but there is some road noise. However, this did not disturb us.

We booked this site because it was dog 🐕 friendly with lots of walks and water for our dog. Toilets and showers were always clean and tidy and the owners always put us on the right path for anything we wanted.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a lovely time. The site is a mixture of tents, tourers and motorhomes. Really friendly from the outset and lovely location to access the dales. Easy access to Windermere and Kendal. Will return to the site in the future.

This is a lovely quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the regular tourist attractions. The site owners go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Our family will be going back next year.

Hello Jade. I agree with you that additional showers and loos would be useful, although you may not have used the larger shower and loo block that was available to you during your stay? The good news is that we have recently gained planning permission for a much larger loo, shower and laundry block and this will be constructed this winter. It is disappointing to me that you have given our facilities and cleanliness 2* ratings, as during your stay the shower and loo blocks were cleaned and restocked 4 times a day. Other reviews from the same time as you were here have awarded us 5*. I try as hard as I can to make sure that every persons stay is as enjoyable as possible, so to see a 3* rating for standard of service isn't good. Other then when you arrived and I showed you to your pitch, I can only recall one occasion when you needed my help and I thought that I'd resolved your issue to your complete satisfaction. Sorry if that wasn't the case! Paul

Just back from a lovely 5 night stay. Site was in great location - we visited Windermere, Arnside, Morecambe. Crooklands pub a 5 min walk away and meal there was fantastic. Accessible stream a few minutes down the lane which was great to cool our dog down in the heat. Paul was very friendly and helpful and always came round the site each day to say hello and check everything was okay. Priced a little more than we would usually pay as having an 8 man tent attracted a further charge. This did not detract from the stay and we wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.
