About Orchard Hideaways
Come and enjoy a rural retreat close to Penrith, where your surroundings are lush farmland and scenes that set off the country vibe. Located ten minutes from Lake Ullswater and Pooley Bridge, five minutes from the historic market town of Penrith, and within five of all major public/private travel options (bus, train, the M6 and car hire), exploring the Lake District couldn't be easier. The site boasts 16 camping pods, each pet friendly and complete with a fridge, kettle, microwave, plates, bowls, mugs, and cutlery. To keep you warm, all the pods are fully insulated with heating, lighting, and plug points. All the pods are pet friendly and vary in size, suitable for between two and four guests. Each bed comes with a fitted sheet, however bedding is not provided. Guests can push the twin beds together to create a double style if required too. Each pod has an outdoor bench and BBQ point for disposable BBQs. Guests will also have access to two social spaces, The Chill Out and Sizzle Shack (extra cost), a covered communal seating area, kid's outdoor play area, bike hire and secure storage, clothes washing and drying facilities, and free site WiFi, the site has something for everyone. If you are celebrating a special occasion or you just want to treat yourself, you can also look to hire out one of the site's two social areas. 'The Chill Out' looks straight out of a glamorous TV show, kitted out with a jacuzzi, a sauna, a sunken seating area and more. For cooking up a treat, the Sizzle Shack offers a Scandinavian BBQ hut with a flame grill fire. Fire pits and open fires and prohibited, and disposable BBQs are only permitted in the areas provided. Orchard Hideaways is open all year round.

Site facilities include modern washrooms with hot showers, toilets and hairdryers, along with an accessible large washroom. There is a covered washing up area, along with individual areas for disposable BBQs by each pod. For cyclists, there is a bike storage facility to keep them dry and safe.
For kids, there is a small playground. There is also a vending machine, books, guides, clothing washing and drying facilities and free WiFi.
The site also has two luxury social spaces available to hire at an extra cost. The Chill Out includes a jacuzzi, smart TVs, karaoke, a sauna, a sunken seating area with a fire pit, a projector, Alexa and a BBQ hot plate. The Sizzle Shack is a Scandinavian BBQ hut with a flame grill fire pit, LED lighting and a smart speaker.
The site is just off the A66 with multiple pubs within a five minute drive, including the Horse and Farrier. There is also a Nisa Local a five minute drive away for picking up any essentials.

Things to do on site and in the Penrith area
Ullswater is a ten minute drive from your glamping hideaway, one of the major attractions of the Lakes for you to enjoy. You'll find a proper Cumbrian market town and all the fun of exploring its cute streets and tempting shops is just a 20 minute drive away in Keswick.
On rainy days, make a beeline for the Rheged Activity Centre, just a ten minute walk away, where you can catch great arts and cultural events or browse independent shops.
Skiddaw Mountain is 30 minutes away in the car, ideal for climbers and trekkers who want to take on the challenge.
