Small friendly campsite

The site has friendly and helpful staff, who are knowledgeable about the local area and keen to share this knowledge with guests. Hele Bay itself has limited facilities on offer, with one shop that seems to have very irregular opening times. Most grocery supplies can be purchased at the local garage, however, and there is a pub close to the site. If walking is your thing, the coast path is glorious and only a five-minute walk from the site, making it an ideal spot to explore the picturesque coastal walks on the doorstep.

Excellent stay, very helpful staff

Excellent site. When we had a problem on arrival, the staff were very helpful and managed to accommodate us. Very peaceful stay. Lovely clean facilities. Would highly recommend.

Holiday break

Immaculate pod with everything we needed. Such friendly and helpful staff. The site was so clean and well kept. In walking distance of a beach and eating pub. Bus service was excellent, so we didn't need to use the car. Will definitely be going again.

Quiet site, good location, excellent cleanliness, and very friendly helpful staff - would highly recommend. Access is a bit tight for caravan but still manageable.

A great find!

First stay at Hele Valley and definitely not the last. The team made us all feel really welcome and were very friendly and approachable. The park was very well kept and the toilet and shower facilities were up there with some of the best I have experienced. Loved the ability to walk into town and the little local bay. It's a huge yes from me! Thanks for having us.

Lovely site

The holiday park was clean, well maintained, quiet, and staff were very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend the site - we will definitely be booking to stay there again in the future if we are visiting the area.

Lovely location, excellent facilities

Our first visit to this site. Lovely site surrounded by trees. Pitches a good size too. Facilities really good and always clean. Staff friendly and helpful; always busy tidying/checking site. Location great for exploring North Devon.

Very peaceful and relaxing.Toilet and shower room very clean. Plenty of hot water in the showers.

Friendly staff, well maintained site

I stayed for a few days with my teenage granddaughter. The site was very clean and well kept with excellent showering and washing facilities. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, we had a great time. There are beautiful walks from the campsite, we loved it.

Excellent site, 1st class surroundings, very clean and friendly staff

Excellent site, beautiful surroundings, and handy for Hele beech. Bus stop just outside camp, Ilfracombe harbour a 20 minute walk, but 5 minutes on the bus. Very clean site, immaculately kept. First class!

Must eat at Comyn Farm at the end of the campsite!

We especially loved the absolutely delicious meals that you can pre-book to take back to your campervan or eat at their home on Comyn Farm at the end of the campsite. Beautiful set up and amazing food, was very pleasant and the chef was very friendly, with lovely garden for our children to run around!

Disappointed but perfect for some!

Disappointed because I had the wrong impression of the site from the reviews. At almost double the price per night we've paid this year for similar pitches, I was perhaps expecting something really special which I didn't get. Although the pitch we had was large, the whole site feels really cramped and I had thought the beach could be accessed from the site, but in fact a busy main road has to be crossed. The code to access the shower block put me off using it, but my husband said the showers were nice. WiFi was free but it kept dropping. Around us were lots of families who seemed to know each other - lovely for them, but I felt like a gate crasher at someone else's party. The staff were lovely and for families the site is great (just know that it's a 10/15 minute walk on roads to the lovely little beach), but for us the wrong side of middle aged, it was disappointing and definitely not worth £40.

We are sorry to see that you were expecting something totally different on booking our site and you felt the park is cramped and overpriced. The park is rated 5 stars and is maintained to a really high standard. The pitches are large with lots of room between each pitch. The campsite was full on the night you stayed due to it being the bank holiday for the Jubilee and lots of people were making friends to celebrate the special event either on the park or in the local area. We are sorry to read you felt like a gate crasher but can assure you this would not have been the case. Sometimes the weather can affect the wifi or the amount of people using it but it is provided totally free of charge for our customers to use. We have codes on the male and female shower blocks so they are secure and safe for our customers and that they are only used by our touring and camping customers at the site. It's a shame you did not get to try the showers as they are really lovely! We are pleased your husband tried them though. The local beach is lovely and glad you you went and explored this. It is only a short walk from the park and you do need to cross the road to get to it. We do advertise that the beach is close by but there is no direct access from the site We are sorry that the site is not for you but appreciate that you feel it would be great for others and have recommended the site for families and you found the staff to be lovely. Perfect for family camping

Just returned from 4 nights. Great site, perfectly located. We loved that the site was relatively small, quiet and really well located for visiting the surrounding areas. The facilities were really clean and tidy and never too busy. Our children loved the play area, perfectly located behind our tent. We'd loved to return again next year.

Amazing campsite!

Such a great campsite! The staff were so lovely - welcoming, friendly, eager to help and made us feel so at home we didn't want to leave! The campsite itself has a wonderful atmosphere. The layout was cleverly organised. All the facilities were cleaned regularly throughout the day, ensuring spotless showers and toilets. The location of the campsite suited us down to the ground. It was within walking distance of a beautiful beach and a friendly pub/restaurant. While also being central to all the amazing attractions North Devon has to offer. We enjoyed our time at Hele Valley campsite so much we actually booked our next stay there before we even left! We're counting down the days until we return. We are definitely going to recommend this campsite to our friends and family!

Beautiful site in stunning, peaceful location

First stay here and very impressed with location, cleanliness and pitch. Lovely valley spot with shady walk for dog. Short walk to beach, which was beautiful and pub serving food.

Lovely site

Very nice site, a bit narrow if you've got a big van, but there were still big vans on the site.

Quiet break away

We would highly recommend staying at this campsite. It was very quiet and peaceful. The showers and toilets were very clean and up to date.

Good site

Lovely site. Pretty setting and good dog walks from the site. You need a good level of fitness to walk into Ilfracombe as it's really hilly. Taxi back to site is only £6. The only downside is the trees cast a shadow over your pitch if you are by the stream in the afternoon and the access to the site is tricky.

We are pleased you found the site to be in a lovely setting and you found some good dog walking routes from here. North Devon is a very hilly area but glad you were able to use the local taxi when needed. We also have local buses running from just outside the park which go to the local towns and beach areas if needed. The turning into the park is a little tight but manageable. We are set in a valley with lots of trees and can cause some shadow in some parts of the park which can also be helpful when it is really hot in the summer.

2 adults and 2 dogs go to North Devon

Beautiful site, well maintained, with really lovely, friendly owners who were continually working and attending to any issues that arose. It's only a short walk to Ilfracombe, harbour area and Verity, all worth a visit. The site is hidden away in a valley but a short drive to different towns and villages. There's also a pub within walking distance.

Superb site with first class toilet/showers facilities, run by a very experienced and friendly family. The whole park was immaculate.
