About Wolf Meadows Farm

This peaceful farm close to Umberleigh offers 30 acres of lush meadows and woodland, where a blend of traditional farming methods and sustainability are in place - and the environmentally friendly vibe is strong. Wolf Meadows is bordered by flower and berry filled hedgerows and ancient woodland - perfect for getting back to nature. It plays host to rare and endangered Highland cattle, a proud cockerel and hens which lay the best free range eggs for your brekkie. All pitches are without electric. Choose to spread out in acres of expansive meadow, bounded by the River Taw. There are a limited number of riverside meadow pitches, where you can hear the gentle flow of the clear water. It's home to ducks, geese, salmon and perhaps even swans. A small section of exclusive wild bluebell woodland also offers space to pop your tent. Shy deer can sometimes be seen and there's plenty of other wildlife and wildflowers. Just three pitches are within the section of woodland that stretches down to the river bank and from this base you might paddle in the water, watch an otter go about its day or go to sleep listening to gentle bird calls. The site is also home to two eco friendly and Viking-inspired glamping barrel pods. Sleeping four with two double bedrooms, both enjoy their own secluded spot on the site with shared facilities in easy reach and outdoor BBQ area for campfires. Please note, the site is accessed by a tight narrow bend but the staff are always on hand to help you get in if needed.

Wolf Meadows Farm is open from 15/04 to 22/09.

A note from the site themselves...

The farm is owned by ecologists couple who are passionate about the outstanding wildlife the farm supports. Their priority is to conserve and enhance the farm for nature, and grazing livestock is integral to this goal.

Managed organically (without the use of artificial pesticides, fertilisers and other chemicals), the grassland is grazed by a herd of rare and endangered cattle, it is nestled within a private stretch of the idyllic Taw river within the truly enchanting valley full of wildlife, set in the beautiful North Devon countryside.

Traditionally managed, flower-rich meadows bordered by dense berry and flower-filled hedgerows and ancient woodland. Be inspired by nature, reconnect, be happy, sleep, and fall in love. Turn off your phone and savour the quiet. Rise with the sun, marvel at the dawn chorus, awaken your senses and feel revived to backpedal, muse, and wonder.

At dusk, bats fly overhead and owls can be heard calling across the river, which itself is home to not only salmon but warblers, curlews, egrets, otter, geese, ducks and swans....

Medium Tent - Non Electric Meadow Riverside PitchesAug 2023

Marcus is a true gent and fabulous host, appeared by magic after snapping a tent pole and made sure we got sorted! The site has to be seen to be appreciated, stunning, wild location but with hot showers and compost toilets. The shingle riverside "beach" area is simply idyllic, perfect for sitting and contemplating life or the small lake that's ideal for a swim if the river is a little fast after all that rain. We ended up staying in one of the well built glamping pods next to the pig pen that my daughter loved! We will certainly be back and can wholeheartedly recommend this site to any demographic. Good luck with the farm planning Marcus and hopefully see you again soon!

Just peace

Medium Tent - Non Electric Meadow Riverside PitchesAug 2023

Owners were really friendly and always on hand when we needed help. Showers were nice and warm with good amount of power. Not only did we make friends with the resident cows, but we managed to see a baby otter, which was living in the lake. If it's peace and quiet you're after, then this campsite is definitely a must.

Amazing, back to nature place by the river

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Meadow Riverside PitchesJun 2023

Lovely peaceful spot by the river. Loads of space between pitches. The antithesis to the sort of campsites which line everyone up on top of each other. Owners were super-friendly and helpful. Can have campfires. Took our dog.
