Long weekend in motorhome

Fabulous campsite with an amazing position. Walkable to an amazing beach. I'm a West Country boy but I've never heard of hive beach. Brilliant, reminded of beaches in Cornwall before they were overrun with second home owners. The facilities were first class and the maintenance of the grounds were brilliant. Lovely pub in the beautiful village of Burton Bradstock and on a bus route into the equally impressive Bridport. Thanks for a great stay, Andy.

Nice and quiet

When I read the listing, I thought it was for a quiet site with starry skies and wildlife. Which is true. But it was also quite a large holiday park with statics... I was a bit shocked. We were very lucky, we got the lower camping meadow to ourselves and it didn't feel busy at all in our little bit. The dog walking field was greatly appreciated by Albert, and we had a lovely stay. You can walk down to the beach in 35 minutes apparently, although we didn't try it. Showers were hot, the toilets were spotlessly clean and there was recycling points. We had a lovely couple of nights, but it was a quiet time of year (end of April). Lots of thought for wildlife.

Great site

This is a very nice site run by friendly, helpful people. The site is surrounded by lovely countryside and is very well maintained. The toilet block is the cleanest I have ever seen!

Had a lovely week

Had a lovely week, despite the weather Gods not being on our side! Lovely peaceful site. Facilities are a little dated, but immaculately clean and plenty of hot water. Would prefer an allocated pitch rather than 'pick your own available', and disappointing that hard standing pitches hadn't been available to book by our daughter, but were empty throughout their trip. The Information Point, with children's games, puzzles etc is a fantastic idea, but an outdoor play area would also be an advantage. Staff were friendly and helpful, but phone/Wi-Fi is poor even with the purchased code! Weather was exceptionally bad for part of our stay and some of the roads got a little muddy, but at the end of the day, we've had a good week away and would definitely go again.

Excellent site

We came in our motorhome with our 2 dogs and found the facilities for ourselves and our dogs superb. The facilities, walks and information centre were 1st class. If there is anything negative, the Internet was buffering a lot, but there was football and rugby on at the time.

Fabulous site, very peaceful

Very friendly staff, superb place to stay. Very peaceful with beautiful surroundings. Short walk to Hive beach & also to the village, which has 2 very good pubs serving excellent food.

Quiet little gem

A lovely little campsite in the heart of the Dorset countryside. 30 min walk to Hive beach and 15 min walk to Burton Bradstock's two local pubs. Good size pitches with all the facilities you need on the site.

Family fun

The park was very well maintained and quiet, we had an enjoyable walk to Hive beach. The showers were always hot, not very keen on the button operation of the shower with small children (stops too soon). Loved hearing the owls and seeing glow worms in the woods.

Beautiful site but needs more facilities

The site itself is beautiful. Very well maintained and looked after however, the showers need to be upgraded. In the ladies, there are two small showers with no shelf or area to put your wash bag or clean clothes etc. There is just a small area on the floor to put your clothes (other than a hook on the door). I found it very awkward to get changed. The unisex showers are great but there is only two of them also. Also, with having older children, it cost an extra £35 for the Wi-Fi. This was an added cost that I didn't expect but oh well, that's my own fault for giving in to teenagers! Other than that, we all had a lovely time. Visited various places within Dorset, which was great. I felt safe and I also felt fine when my younger children walked up to the facilities without me.

Okay

Okay site - toilet blocks and facilities were too far away for us and there were not enough showers to accommodate the amount of campers - you have to wait for ages. Lovely surroundings though and close to beach.

Lovely site for a peaceful break

Enjoyed a short break at this lovely site. All staff were friendly and helpful. Good facilities for camping with our dog. Great location, easy walk to the village and beach. Will come back again.

We had a wonderful holiday

Located a walk away from a quaint village and a little further from the beach. Plenty of walking opportunities as well as a local bus service to larger towns. The site was very well maintained and the pitches are all generous and with good space around them. A wonderful weeks holiday.

Great site

Excellent communication prior to my visit. Very helpful, friendly welcome to the site and information on the area. The facilities were great. Plenty of nearby water taps. Toilet and shower block very clean and only a short distance from my pitch in the non electric field. Also helpful information pod next to the field with more information in, kids' games, books and a freezer for ice packs. I would not hesitate in returning and can highly recommend this site for its location, value and excellent facilities.

Great site for myself and my dog

My second visit to this site, returning with my new puppy on her first camping trip confident about how suitable with good walks and a secure dog field. Smashing facilities, hot showers and beautifully kept grounds. Would recommend this site.

Fabulous stay!

It was our first time staying here and it won't be our last! Lovely, peaceful campsite and great location. Only 30 mins walk to the beach and 15 mins walk to the local village with great pubs and food. The only downside (but this is minor!) was no charging points for phone if you don't have an electric pitch. We did so that was fine but we do need our phones for satnav when we're on the road. We are planning our next trip now!

Lovely, first camping trio

This was mine and my husband's first camping trip together. The site was spotlessly clean, as were the showers and toilets. It was very peaceful. It's a lovely 15-minute walk into Burton Bradstock and another 10-minute walk to Hive beach. The Three Horseshoes at the bottom of the village is lovely, with a fabulous beer garden. You can't reserve a table in the garden, so if you want to eat there get there early or early evening. We will certainly return to this lovely site.

We had a great time here

We had an excellent stay here. Friendly, helpful staff and very clean and well-maintained facilities. We enjoyed the riverside walk and seating areas, and also that the site is on a couple of footpaths from where you can easily explore the surrounding areas. Whilst the site is set in the countryside, it's not remote and there are 2 pubs in nearby Burton Bradstock and an excellent seafood restaurant on the Hive beach, within easy walking distance.
