Things to do on site and in the Fakenham area
There's so much to see, do, visit and experience in this corner of the country. Whether you're looking for a great pub, the best seafood or a never-to-be-forgotten experience, there's a wonderful selection of places and people to visit.
Rolling countryside, breath-taking coastline, forests, parks and gardens makes Norfolk perfect for walking all year round. The Norfolk Trails network has bought together over 1200 miles of walks, cycle and bridle routes throughout north Norfolk.
There are walks across Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in ancient woodland and along cliff tops offering spectacular coastal views.
Choose from long hikes, short walks, circular trails, coast and countryside routes and easy access walks. Or just amble, taking in the nature and wildlife the seasons bring. There are walks straight out of the site if you don't want to drive.
The north Norfolk coast is just 20 minutes from Raynham and is a 'must visit' when staying on site. The unique Deep History Coast is the 22 mile stretch of coastline between Weybourne and Cart Gap and is home to the earliest evidence of humans in Britain with footsteps left by the UK's first tourists nearly a million years ago.
With eleven discovery points along the way, you can find out what the landscape looked like hundreds of thousands of years ago. Imagine taking a journey back in time to a day when early humans roamed the land and encountered amazing megafauna as part of daily life.
If you are visiting with children, a trip to Wildrootz at Pensthorpe (10 minutes) is highly recommended. Children with energy to burn will relish the challenge presented by the impressive outdoor eco-play area and can push themselves and have fun by scaling 30ft towers, swinging from zip-wires, venturing into underground tunnels and flying down twisty, worm-like slides.
The play equipment is both innovative and challenging in equal measure. Or simply kick off your shoes and paddle barefoot through the Wildrootz stream - a firm favourite with lots of visitors!
Other nearby attractions include:
- Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse (15 minutes)
- Gooderstone Water Gardens and Nature Trail (25 minutes)
- Holkham Hall (25 minutes)
- Roarr! (30 minutes)
- Brancaster Beach (30 minutes)
Guests booking to stay at Raynham can benefit from 20% off entry to Pensthorpe and WildRootz, plus 20% off brewery tours at Duration Brewing, 20% off Safaris at Watatunga Wildlife Tours and 10% of all products, Gin School and experiences at WhataHoot.
