About the site

This small touring site is set on the North Norfolk coastline between Stalham and North Walsham. It is a friendly site for couples or families looking for a base for exploring Norfolk. From sandy shores and boating on The Broads to historic houses and dainty tearooms, the area has plenty to explore. There are five hardstanding pitches with a 16 amp electric hook up included in the pitch price. With well-maintained facilities, water and WiFi (and pets welcome on site), the site provides all of the essential basics. The pitches are spacious and have grass alongside them for adults to sit back with a drink at the end of the day or for awnings, tables and chairs. For those with junior travellers in tow, there's a play area on site and a central family picnic area. As for offsite, the beach can be accessed from the neighbouring road (which can mean a little noise), just decide whether you head to Walcott or Happisburgh Beach which you can also walk to. You could also seek out Sea Palling's longer shoreline, which is 15 minutes drive away. Dogs are welcome, and as this site has such easy access to both countryside and the coast, it's an excellent choice for dog walkers and hikers alike. This site is part of the Caravan and Motorhome Club, and so those wishing to stay will have to become members. The site offers awning and pup tent facilities for no extra cost.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

Nice quiet site despite the proximity of quite a busy road. Pitch quite flat with EHU. Good facilities (especially showers), although no washbasins in facilities to have a wash/shave (also no mirrors). Unfortunately, no dish washing facilities. Wi-Fi on site (but didn't work all weekend) - poor phone signal too. We were left to ourselves to find pitch and didn't see anyone from the site all weekend. Lighthouse pub nearby is very good - although the road to get there is very busy.

Nice, quiet campsite

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

Bathroom facilities were clean, however, a shelf in the shower room would be a great improvement to put soap/shampoo etc. The site is beside a busy road but we were not affected by noise. We did walk to the pub which is about a 10min walk, that wasn't very pleasant as there is no footpath so had to be very vigilant of fast moving traffic on that busy road. Pub offers good food and a welcoming environment. Happisburgh is a 10 min drive or 45 minute walk, lovely place to visit with a beautiful beach. Walcott beach is a 20 minute walk and that too is a beautiful beach. The one big disappointment really was upon arrival, there wasn't any welcoming information at all and I had to go to the owners house to find out the combination for the lock to the toilet facilities.

Traffic noise relentless

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

I'm quite familiar with Walcott and the surrounding area and often stay at other sites but as it was a last minute booking and I read the previous reviews so thought I would give this a try. Not realising this was the site I had passed on my previous visits to Walcott it is situated right in the main road on the corner of the cross roads to Happisburgh Walcott and Ridlington. On arrival, there was nobody around to greet or tell me which pitch I should take, so decided on Pitch 2 which does back on to the main road. 3 other pitches were occupied so choice was limited. However I don't think it matters which pitch because the traffic noise is relentless. Right up to late evening! The site is quite tied and could do with a tidy up. The hardstanding is adequate but the grass is very uneven with lots of mole hills and weeds and could do with a mow! Although, I am a solo traveller, in the description it says suitable for families with a play area (not sure what that meant). The shower/toilet is a bonus and was clean! For £25 a night the owners could improve the overall tidiness and make a point of directing/welcoming visitors on arrival. As for the walk to the beach, which is along the very busy road with no footpath until you reach a cut through which takes you around the back of the church and then in front of the Lighthouse pub. Walking with a dog or small children is not great and quite dangerous!! Overall, I don't usually leave a poor review but on this occasion, I felt the need to raise these issues! Decided to leave after my second night as the traffic noise was overwhelming and I didn't get much sleep! If you are looking for peace and quiet then go somewhere else. Sadly I won't return 😔
