Things to do in Aberdeen

Young sailors will enjoy a visit to the Aberdeen Maritime Museum. Meet the pirate known as Granite Jack, and take his quiz to uncover the answers scattered around the museum.

After you’ve found the answers and earned your reward, head to Aberdeen’s harbour for a pleasant walk admiring the boats before heading out on one yourself to see some of the sea life. You’ll have a chance at seeing dolphins and whales! 

If you don’t fancy going out onto the water, take a look at the Satrosphere Science Centre. Kids can get stuck in with the interactive exhibits, making up their own experiments as they go along.

Spring into action at Jump In Trampoline Parks. Enjoy jumping around the many trampolines on offer or work as part of a team in a game of dodgeball. There’s also a toddler area offering gentle play for the little ones.   

Try out the Linx Ice Arena for some family fun on ice. Don’t worry if it’s your first time as there’s a rail around the rink to help build confidence and have fun while doing so.

When you’ve finished perfecting your skating skills, get close to Aberdeen beach. Take a dip in the vast coastal landscape or, if the sun isn’t shining, enjoy the waves at the Beach Leisure Centre. Slide on the Pipeline and Wipeout flumes before speeding along in the rapids. There’s even a wave machine too.

Wander over to Johnston Gardens after your splash to see the beauty of this award winning public garden. A hidden gem in Aberdeen, you’ll notice the gorgeous scenery as you walk over the rustic bridge whilst listening to the nearby waterfalls -a perfect place for a picnic.

To get a quieter look at Aberdeen’s beauty, head to Seaton Park. You’ll notice the stunning floral display as you walk through the gardens before eventually coming to the nearby St Machar Cathedral.

Filled with history, walk around this impressive piece of architecture dating back to the 12th century. It is said that the left arm of William Wallace is buried within the walls of the cathedral.

Head further out of Aberdeen and visit the beautiful Cairngorms National Park. Admire the landscape of the Scottish Highlands or enjoy the multiple activities ranging from winter sports to mountain biking.

Drive west from Aberdeen and explore Craigiever Castle, said to be Walt Disney’s inspiration for his classic ‘Cinderella’ adaptation. Look at the collection of artefacts on display before walking along the paths of the grounds.
