Electric grass pitches

Birtwick Park is set on an equestrian smallholding on the edge of the Pembrokeshire National Park and enjoys magnificent views to the coast over rolling Pembrokeshire countryside. Solva is a charming village with a bustling quay, quaint shops, galleries and traditional pubs and restaurants. St Davids and Newgale's magnificent sandy beach, are nearby. Extra large pitches and fire pits are available with optional EHU and pets welcome.

Motorhome - Electric Grass and Hardstanding PitchesSep 2023

Half an hour walk to Solva, mostly off road so location isn't too bad. Site is let down by scruffy appearance and looks very neglected. Can't comment on toilet and shower facilities as we didn't use them. Didn't think it was worth £35 per night. Certainly wouldn't bring my horse here, as broken fence posts with nails sticking out just laying on the ground in the field.

Disappointing

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

We recently spent 7 nights camping at Birtwick Park. Rather than jump to write a review, I felt some time was needed to reflect before posting. I think I should start by saying it's a real shame as I feel this site could be great with some TLC. On arrival we were greeted with a rude sign about toilet role use… not the most welcoming after a 7 hr journey. The commercial bins outside of the amenities block (and in full view of the pitching areas) were overflowing when we arrived. Once they were emptied several days later, sadly the owner made no attempt to pick up the debris that had fallen out or been stacked to the side. One of the two washing up sinks had a broken tap on arrival. It was still broken when we left. This wouldn't ordinarily be a problem, but there were no plugs or washing bowls for the sinks, so you couldn't 'transfer' the water to the other sink. The fly mesh in the shower areas was also broken, so there were an awful lot of bugs. Now, you may laugh at that last comment as we are to embrace nature when camping, however when you are being dive bombed by moths whilst sat on the loo, it's not much fun! There are no benches in the showers and a real lack of hooks to hang dry items. This makes it tricky with youngsters in tow. On a positive, the showers always had plenty of hot water, but we chose to shower with our flip flops on as whilst they were 'cleaned' out, they were never really 'clean'. The site is on a working livery yard. The horses are friendly and well kept, but the yard itself is in need of a real tidy. The grass pitches weren't cut whilst we were there and so your feet always got wet going to the amenities block. In my opinion, I'd say the site is better suited to vans than tents. If you want basic, with hot showers, in a quiet location with a starry sky, this might work for you but we wouldn't recommend it and won't be returning.

Medium Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

We really enjoyed our stay at Birtwick Park. We were disappointed to not ever see the owner and to be greeted by an impolite notice - not the best first impression. However, the facilities were great, the campsite was fab and the location was excellent. We would love to come back. It's a long way from Aberdeen though 😀. Hope you have a fab rest of the season and everyone treats the facilities well.

Nice little site. The facilities were okay, but can do with some TLC. Taps were leaking. Very basic facilities.

Twin Axle Caravan - Large Electric Grass PitchesJul 2023

On arrival the site was very nice. Soon after, a large group arrived and after complaining nothing was done about it. The toilets in the men's kept flooding. They were disgusting and there was no toilet paper for 2 days. It was mentioned around the campsite by several other visitors and they were also complaining. After these complaints were made to the site, a notice was put in the toilets and they were cleaned and stayed reasonable for the remainder, but the female toilets were spotless all the time. But overall, its in a nice location and the site will do you if you want something cheap and near a beach.

The place was lovely good facilities. Only problem we had was that there was no sign on the farm - we drove past it.

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesJun 2023

Great site, sunset and sunrise are spectacular. However it is on top of a hill/mountain, so can be very windy. Waking up surrounded by happy horses is awesome. The owner and her children are very friendly and work hard to keep the site lovely. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Great location, 20 minutes to St. David's and 10 minutes to Newgale beach.

Single Axle Caravan - Large Electric Grass PitchesApr 2023

A simple, rural campsite. Generously sized pitches with electric hookups. Clean and functional toilet and shower block. Good 4G signal. The walk to Solva took less than 50 minutes on a designated path. We had a lovely peaceful stay and it was nice to wake up to the ponies in the next field. Very friendly and helpful owner.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass PitchApr 2023

Facilities are just as stated - electric hookup, toilets and showers. Pitches are huge, so even when other people turned up we had plenty of space. Lovely to wake up and see horses looking over the fence. No shop on site, but the local shop sells everything and delivers to the campsite for free. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Such a warm, friendly welcome from Jayne in person. So quiet and restful in a rural location, yet within easy reach of Haverfordwest. Local grocery store will deliver direct to you on site.

VW-Type Campervan - Large Electric Grass PitchesJul 2022

Lovely site, clean facilities. Dog friendly and not too small that you'd feel crammed in like sardines. They are excellent value for money and don't charge you for essential extras like an awning etc. An easy 35-40 minute stroll to Solva, which is beautiful and has quite a few places to eat and drink. Can recommend the Harbour Inn for its views and relaxed atmosphere.

Great stay. Although the weather was terrible we made the most of it - and big thanks to the fire boy who had to bring our logs out in the torrential rain. Nice spacious plots and clean facilities. Highly recommend 👍

VW-Type Campervan - Large Electric Grass PitchesApr 2022

We stayed at Birtwick Park for 4 nights in our campervan. It's a great location for exploring the local area, especially if you're on your bike. The setting is stunning, with horses & ponies in the surrounding fields. The thing we liked most about Birtwick Park was the great host, she made us feel so welcome & was very helpful, coming around every evening to see what sort of a day we'd had & if we needed anything. We'll definitely be back!

Single Axle Caravan - Large Electric Grass PitchesApr 2022

Had a great time here. It was really quiet and close to Newgale and Solva a great base for a holiday. I chose to stay here as there was no WIFI and I wanted to get away from modernity and go back-to-basics. The place was clean and the owner and son were great. The son, bless him, did not stop with the fire pits and logs. A new fence was also put in whilst I was there, very quick guys! Very welcoming people, we appreciated your hospitality and help, thanks. Would I stay again? Yes!

Nice, quiet site, a bit exposed to the elements but wevenjoyed our stay. Cycled to St Davids and Solva, with a lot of walking in between hills and Dales! The shower block and toilets were OK, there was plenty of hot water.
