About the site
A back-to-basics off-grid campsite nestled away in the heart of the Sussex countryside, five minutes from the Bluebell Railway. This is a great choice for those looking to have a traditional authentic camping experience.
A maximum of 15 bookings are allowed onsite at any one time, and all the pitches are non electric on grass for tents and allow up to six people each.
There are four different fields on the site each with their own unique character. When you arrive you are in charge or where you pitch and can choose from any of the fields.
The top field has pitches with far reaching views including some right across to the South Downs. The lower pitches are secluded tree lined meadows tucked away near the valley bottom.
The campsite is just a five minute walk from the picturesque village of West Hoathly, where you can find two fantastic village pubs, both serving excellent food. The Priest House museum is also in the village centre for those interested in local history.
Campfires are allowed and firewood can be purchased on arrival at the site.
Well behaved dogs are welcome onsite.

A note from the site themselves...
The campsite is run on our family farm in Sussex. It started in 2008 after we said a sad goodbye to our dairy cows and embarked on new ventures to support our little farm. To this day our ethos has been 'almost wild' camping, and we have been overwhelmed by the response from our campers (many of whom have stayed with us since the beginning).
It is clear to us that there is a real desire for a camping experience which is on the 'natural' side, no big site road, no buildings, just a campsite where everyone can decide if they want to tuck in to a quiet pitch on the woodland edge, or setup with friends in the main field and play games.
We have loved welcoming a campers from all over the place and take pride in our site and how it is managed. We enjoy seeing the wildlife flourish and often campers show us pictures they have taken - everything from birds of prey, fallow deer and kingfishers.
Actually stayed 2 nights. On arrival was warmly greeted and told about the facilities and where I could pitch.
The facilities are simple and basic, perfect for me.
The camping area is pretty and surrounded by woodlands, quiet and tidy.
The weather was mixed to say the least but the site is a great base for local walks (which I did) and sight seeing, a great place to chillout and read.
I will be back to enjoy the site once more.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2025
Lovely site. Lots of space, which allows tents to be well spaced out. Wooded areas and large trees between fields creates a sense of being secluded. Hilly in most areas, so limited flat space for pitching.
Owners regularly checked in to make sure we had all we needed. We will visit again.
