Adult only site just 15 minutes from the city of York and ten minutes to the Howardian Hills

Eco-conscious and a collaborator with Natural England with hens, ducks, birds and hedgehogs!

About the site

This tranquil site is set within rolling farmland and is a nature lover's paradise. Spot the site's friendly hens, or watch the ducks skim around the pond. Meet up with friends, relax and enjoy a refreshing drink at the onsite bar 'Champers for Campers', or a freshly made pizza from the onsite pizza airstream. 'G Papa J's Pizza'. The site has collaborated with Natural England to install nest boxes for various bird species that have seen a decline in numbers in recent years. Through the campsite app, you can watch live a feed from webcams set up in some of the bird boxes. There's also a good chance of seeing one of the rehabilitated hedgehogs that the site looks after with local wildlife carers. There is a selection of secluded hardstanding touring pitches with 32 amp electric, surrounded by evergreen trees, and fully serviced pitches with 32 amp electric, water and waste connections, together with a selection of tent pitches with EHU. All pitches are generously sized, so there's plenty of space for you to set up your table and chairs outside. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Gas BBQs are allowed if they are raised off the ground, but note that no open fires or charcoal BBQs are permitted onsite.

Hardstanding pitches are open all year, grass pitches are available between March and October. Pitches from £33/night for 2 people.

A note from the site themselves...

I have always been passionate about camping and love the outdoors. As a York Minster trained cabinet maker and joiner, the entire site has been built by me. My father was a coal miner, and he encouraged hard work and ideas. My Grandad was a carpenter, and I followed in his footsteps.

I wanted to build a fantastic campsite that provides excellent access to York and the surrounding Yorkshire attractions. At Flaxton Meadows, I have incorporated many things that cannot be found in other campsites, such as top-quality showers and toilets.

In today's eco world, you can say that you have stayed at an eco campsite and made a huge contribution to the environment. There is a fantastic sense of community here as we don't pack campers and caravans in, so there's lots of space to enjoy the wildlife. You won't be disappointed!
