At the head of Llyn Gwynant lake, this campsite lies in the very heart of Snowdonia. Enjoy the outdoors in magnificent surroundings bordered by lake, river and mountains. The site has over 400 grass tent pitches as well as bookable grass bays for small vans, or tents wanting EHU and some hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and large vans.
Llyn Gwynant is the nature lovers' campsite in the very heart of Snowdonia. Lying below Snowdon in the most beautiful valley in Wales, it's ideal for walking and adventure activities. You'll stay only 2 miles as the crow flies from the summit of Mount Snowdon and there is easy access by foot, car or bus to the routes up Snowdon, as well as access to many easier and very beautiful walks nearby. Llyn Gwynant campsite is for people who love the outdoors. The site is not overdeveloped so that out of season the land returns to green fields. In late August and busy bank holidays the site is popular, with a family festival atmosphere, so come for peace and quiet at other times. The site does not take bookings for families or individuals in tents, but operates on a first come first served basis where you choose your own place to pitch. There are some bookable bays for motorhomes and caravans and those wanting hook-ups. The site has free fire pits and sells firewood and offers a comfortable stay. However, this wild and beautiful place is not overdeveloped - no concrete kerb and channel - so wet toes are quite likely in the winter!
Open from 15 March to 31 October
Non electric grass tent pitches are provided on a first come first served basis. It is not possible to book these pitches in advance.

Reinforced grass for a small van less than 5.5m long, with no electric.

Unfortunately Llyn Gwynant Campsite doesn't share their availability calendar with us yet. Availability changes quickly, especially in summer, so we recommend enquiring by phone to avoid missing out.

Kayaks, canoe and stand-up paddle boards can be hired from April to September on all weekends, and every day during the main school holidays in July and August. This operates beside the river opening onto the lake. You can also bring kayaks, canoes and sailing boats to use on the lake and river, and there is no charge for this if you are camping with the site.
This is one of the few campsites that allows campfires, on readily supplied metal pits, so toasting marshmallows is an essential activity. Guests can also use their own BBQs for an evening cook out so long as the grass is protected.
Adventure activities are run from the site in the school holidays including gorge walking and raft building. These must be booked in advance, please enquire with staff.
During summer breakfast, lunch and evening meals can all be purchased on site, from Cegin Gwynant (Gwynant Kitchen). Jones Pizzas offer Napolitan wood fired pizzas which are justly famous, so have dinner in the open air. Hearty vegan and meat breakfasts, packed lunches and bbq packs are also available from the Cegin from 7 am to 3 pm.
Walking the magnificent hills of Snowdonia is one of the main attractions at Llyn Gwynant. You can walk up Snowdon directly from the campsite: either take the Watkin path that starts about 1 1/2 miles to the south of the campsite, or via the Miners or PYG tracks which start about 2 1/2 miles to the north of the campsite.
Other shorter and easier walks such as a gentle 1 1/2 hour ramble around the shores of beautiful Llyn Gwynant can be done directly from the campsite.
