South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park is an award winning and family-run site. It's the ideal base for exploring Dorset and the rugged Jurassic Coast, and you'll have easy access to Poole, Bournemouth and Sandbanks. There's even an onsite bar open daily! It was named Overall Campsite of the Year in the prestigious AA Awards, highlighting the dedication to continual improvement and a genuine desire to create lasting memories.

About the site

This family-run park is situated in 20 acres of beautiful parkland in a lovely village called Lytchett Minster, just three miles from Poole and 20 minutes drive from Bournemouth. Touring pitches are spacious and will accommodate the largest of units. Many are fully serviced with electric hook-ups, their own water and drainage, and a picnic bench. For campers, there's a tent-only field, or very large tents can be pitched on super pitches with electric and TV hook-up. For something a little different, try one of the glamping units, including Romany caravans, shepherd's huts, glamping pods and stargazing yurts. They are all bespoke and hand-built by the team on site. Each sleeps four, with a lovely comfortable double bed and two singles. You'll also find cooking facilities and a TV/DVD player. Or, opt for one of the Nomadic Bell tents, perfect for a romantic escape or a family getaway, sleeping up to four guests. Each tent has a king sized bed and two single futons, plus an electric wood burner. There is even a fridge, kettle, TV and USB chargers! Just bring your own bedding and towels. Dogs are made very welcome and the site accepts rallies. Please note campfires are not allowed.

Open from 1 March to 2 January

Things to do on site and in the Poole area

Bicycles are available to hire from reception and there are great routes from the campsite out into the Dorset countryside.

There is a children's adventure playground for sunnier days on-site. Guests have plenty of space for football and games and there is a wood and pond area where accompanied children love to explore. The site organises seasonal children's treasure hunts to keep little ones active too.

Visit the onsite cafe and bakery in the morning for some delicious freshly baked goods - don't forget to grab your artisan coffee and a slice of thick homemade cake...you might even find Dave making his famous bacon sandwiches once in a while!

The coastline is simply breathtaking. There are Blue Flag beaches around Poole and Bournemouth and don't miss walks along the rugged cliffs in Purbeck that mark the start of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Local attractions such as Monkey World, Farmer Palmers and The Tank Museum are a short journey away.

There are two bus stops right outside the main park gates which can take you to Swanage, Wareham and Poole. Otherwise, take the Jurassic Coaster X54, which travels along the Jurassic Coast to Weymouth.

Spend the day browsing the feathered wildlife at RSPB Arne Nature Reserve or take a boat trip from Poole Quay to Brownsea Island, a scout haven.

Other great activities in the area:

  • Sandbanks
  • Studland Beach
  • Splashdown Waterpark
  • Corfe Castle
  • Dorset Waterpark
  • Farmer Palmers
  • Kingston Lacy
  • Cockle Trail walking route
