Chyan Farm is a unique camping location, close to Falmouth and Helston. It's an off-grid and eco-camping site, with compost loos and solar showers, set on a 26-acre organic apple farm and forest garden project.

About the site

Chyan is a beautiful, unique place to camp. The emphasis is on wild camping with back to basics facilities, aiming to let people come here and enjoy the experience of connecting with nature in a peaceful and rural setting away from the trappings of the modern world. Here you will find tranquility, wildlife encounters and an experience quite different to most other campsites in Cornwall. The beautiful, secluded and unique camping site at Chyan Farm is set in a rural wooded river valley, surrounded by trees and fields - and dotted with apple orchards. It is a no-frills site and facilities are basic. Don't expect luxury, but do expect the chance to sleep out under the stars, encounter local wildlife and explore the lovely area. All pitches are non-electric and you can pitch wherever you choose.

No frills facilities include compost toilets, natural spring water piped into taps for drinking and washing up, and a unique solar shower boathouse. There is also a wood-fired sauna available to hire and organic apple juice, salad and veg for sale. Fires welcome, but only in a fire pit or brazier to protect the grass.

Things to do on site and in the Falmouth area

Chyan Community Field is an organic forest garden and centre for outdoor learning. It is a very special, biodiverse and unique area. Campers have the opportunity to volunteer on the Community Field if they wish during their stay.

There are some beautiful natural play areas for children, including a willow playground (a large area of interconnected living willow domes, tunnels, dens and arches), a mud kitchen, a separate play area with swing and tunnels, and a musical sculpture.

A yoga festival takes place at Chyan once a year, and a circus camp too. There are a number of classes in the apple barn, including two yoga classes each week, art workshops and meditation sessions.

  • Kernow Adventure Park (2 miles), with wake boarding, wipeout sessions and open water swimming.
