There is a pub just a 15 minute walk from the site, and there are more restaurants and a local shop in the village, a short drive or woodland walk away.

About the site


Experience camping in Glencoe, where you will discover Scotland's wildlife and some of the most beautiful scenery this country has to offer, with breathtaking mountain views and riverside spots. You can set up base in one of over 100 non designated grass pitches or pitch amongst the woodland or on the banks of the picturesque River Coe. The space is perfect for campervans or tents for a true traditional camping feel. On weekends, enjoy the onsite food, ice cream and coffee truck, perfect for your morning brew or afternoon sweet treat! For those looking to explore, this rural spot in the Highlands has plenty to do nearby, including waterfalls and trails. The UK's highest peak, Ben Nevis, can also be reached within 40 minutes. Campfires and BBQs are allowed, helping to achieve that authentic camping experience. Campfires are only permitted in raised bowls, which can be borrowed onsite, or you are welcome to bring your own. Firewood can be purchased from reception during opening hours. Dogs are welcome onsite at no extra cost.

Facilities include men's and women's toilets and showers, and washing up sinks. There is free WiFi for you to use, and this is best near the office or WiFi hut. There is also a mobile phone charging cabinet for guests to use, please note that the site do not charge phones in reception.

Just Good Food food truck will be onsite most weekends, serving breakfast, dinner and hot drinks. There's also a seasonal ice cream van onsite. For other meals, the closest pub is the Clachaig Inn and Boots Bar, a 15 minute walk, or under five minute drive away. For food shops, there's a Co-op a ten minute drive away in Ballachulish.

Check-in at Red Squirrel Campsite is available from 2pm to 8pm. Departure is due before 11am on your last day.

Yes, all well behaved pets are welcome at Red Squirrel Campsite, as long as you please clean up after them! Do also remember that the site is home to deer, sheep and goats in the area, so please keep them on a lead.

Yes, they are both allowed at Red Squirrel Campsite, but must be raised off the ground. Campfires are only permitted in raised bowls, which can be borrowed onsite, or you are welcome to bring your own. Firewood can be purchased from reception during opening hours. Fires need to be extinguished by 11pm. Please note that you are not allowed to make new fire pits of your own, if there is no pre made fire pit by your pitch, please use one of the fire bowls.

Yes, groups are welcome at Red Squirrel Campsite, and the site wants everyone to have a great time! With that in mind, please do respect other campers and do not disturb them.

Yes, Red Squirrel Campsite operates a quiet policy between 11pm and 7am.

Things to do on site and in the Glencoe area

There are numerous walks near the site, and short drives open up your options for walking further afield. Harry Potter fans won't want to miss a visit to Hagrid's Hut, a site once used in the film franchise, only a ten minute walk away. Signal Rock is also just a five minute drive away, a top spot for hikers! The iconic Ben Nevis mountain, the highest in the UK, is just a 40 minute drive and is a must for avid explorers.

The nearest sea pier at Glencoe is a ten minute drive away for those who want to watch the waves, and there is lashings of remote and beautiful Highland countryside. Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall is a lovely spot, and is reachable by car in 20 minutes.
