The site caters to caravans, motorhomes and tents with level, sheltered and fully serviced pitches. Furry friends will love their visit too, with dog groomer and dog pampering facilities available on site.

About the site

Just a short drive from the Jurassic coast, the site borders the rural village of Portesham, and offers walks across rolling Dorset close at hand. Only a short drive to Weymouth and Dorchester. The campground has a wonderful family-run atmosphere and is ideal for quiet travellers or small groups. A small playground is placed conveniently close to a number of pitches, allowing parents to easily keep an eye on children while the little ones play. Pitches are available in four main types - standard (non electric, drinking water is available at shared points nearby), semi serviced (with 16-Amp electric), fully serviced (with 16-Amp electric, drainage and a drinking water tap) and super pitches (with electric, drainage, drinking water tap and TV aerial) available on both grass and hardstanding (primary gravel) and in a variety of sizes. Friendly dogs are welcome at Portesham Dairy Farm, why not book your dog in for a pamper with Shannon the dog groomer whilst you are here, where everything from bubble baths to full grooming services is available for purchase. Caravan storage also available so why not let the team tow your caravan on and off the pitch? Ideal for a late arrival! Visitors are in easy walking distance of the charming village of Portesham where the Kings Arms serves up award-winning local dishes and Duck's Farm Shop tempts visitors with deli and café treats.

Facilities include a main block with toilets, showers (temperature adjustable), hair dryers and shaving power points, as well as a toilet cubicle, shower and sink that is wide enough for a wheelchair. Please note that wheelchair users may need assistance upon entering.

There are two extra portable buildings next to the main camping field, with toilets, showers and washing up room. A launderette includes a washing machine, tumble dryer (tokens), a dishwashing space with hot and cold water, and baby changing facilities. Free WiFi is available.

There is a dog groomer onsite and caravan storage is available. You can buy fresh local milk, milkshake, hot drinks, snacks and orange juice and other essentials from 'The Old Mill', which is home to the site's milk and fridge vending machines. There is a play park with a slide, two baby swings and two flat seat child swings, plus a dog exercise field.

Duck's Farm Shop and Cafe is a two minute walk away, open from 8am every day, offering breakfast and lunch options. The Kings Arms is a five minute walk away with a large beer garden.

Great for dogs

Get tails wagging with an onsite field for them to run. A footpath leads to open countryside, with a dog grooming bar next door for pampered pooches.

Portesham Dairy Farm has been family-run right from the start. Beginning with 28-day camping in the 60s we moved to a licensed site in 1983! As you can imagine, we have developed so much over the years, and we take pride in putting our personal touch into presenting our peaceful part of the countryside.

Based along the Jurassic Coast, we feel so lucky to welcome those from all over and show off what Dorset has to offer. From long beaches with seaside towns and quirky villages to the stunning views on endless country walks, we really hope there is something for everyone.

Our top priority is to provide the perfect holiday, whether that be full-fun packed or a complete unwind and relax. We're always making improvements to ensure the highest level of service and facilities.

VW-Type Campervan - Semi Serviced Hardstanding Pitches (Medium)Oct 2025

We only stayed one night, I wish we could have stayed for longer. The welcome was lovely and the pitch was perfect, appreciated having own access to water. Loved the vending machines, all the essentials and more, and great to get fresh cup of coffee too. The main toilet/shower block were very modern and super clean, and surprisingly the porto toilet facilities at the far end of the site were lovely! The small touches too, e.g. someone had put the heating on in the porto block and meant the early loo trip wasn't freezing! There was a field behind the site which was perfect for walking our energetic springer. Thank you so much. Really look forward to returning and spending more time there.

Single Axle Caravan - Semi Serviced Hardstanding Pitches (Medium)Oct 2025

We stayed for two nights here with our 3 dogs. The toilets and showers were clean and spacious. Vending machines had some basics and lovely extras that you could get 24/7. The local pub was also a 2 minute walk and there was a farm shop and cafe. The site had an enclosed spacious dog walking field with a beautiful sunset. Access to footpaths all around.

Large Tent - Super Grass Pitches (Large)Sep 2025

What a lovely place to stay, we had a large grass pitch as we had a large tent. The staff were lovely and pleasant. The showers and toilet block were very clean, the whole sit in fact was kept immaculate, my favourite part was the little vending machine area for the milkshakes, I enjoyed a milkshake every night. Will definitely be back, great place.

Yes, Portesham Dairy Farm Campsite is dog friendly, with up to three well behaved dogs are welcome per pitch, provided they are kept on a lead whilst onsite and are not a breed/crossbreed listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. A footpath goes directly from the site to acres of countryside for your pooch to explore, plus there is a dog groomer onsite offering baths, trims and other luxuries for your four legged friend.Caravan sitters are also available to hire for dogs whilst you're spending the day exploring the surrounding area.
