VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Wild PitchesMay 2025
I've given the Red Squirrel 5 stars on each of the categories, not something I do lightly. My stay there was a last minute thing after changes at an event meant somewhere had to be found pdq. All I needed was somewhere to park, and sleep overnight, while I was off doing my job, what I got was so much more. Yes, as it is a wild camping site meant I wasn't expecting knobs bells and whistles, nor do I actually need such stuff, what I do need are clean toilets and showers with hot water - see five stars on the cleanliness and facilities. All the staff I met - check-in, site info, odd questions - were knowledgeable, helpful, polite and knew the surrounding area, so five stars on the standard of service. Can't fault the cost of the stay either and the actual location was excellent from a camping point of view and only seven miles away from where I was working each day. The fact a deer strolled past my plot as I was having a coffee one morning was just a bonus. So, yes, Red Squirrel worked for me.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Wild PitchesApr 2025
I wish I had arrived earlier.
My date for this site was not a good one against the British weather. It was really windy and raining. I can do rain but not with wind. Once I set up I stayed in my campervan. The next morning, I went for a dog walk and could see some camping disasters due to the high winds. Showers are clean tidy and spacious.
Food shack on site for cuppas and lovely bacon sarnies. I will be back again later in the year.
