About the site

Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Howgill Lodge is the ideal place for a holiday to remember. Imagine green rolling hills dotted with traditional stone barns and sheep grazing in the sunshine. Although in a completely rural setting, you'll be close to some charming areas including Bolton Abbey, Burnsall, Grassington, Pateley Bridge and Skipton and only a short journey from the buzz of York, Harrogate and Leeds. For tourers and campers, the park is terraced to give privacy and clear views right over the traditional Yorkshire countryside. The pitches are level and whether you're in a caravan or a tent, you have the option of an electric hookup. Each pitch has its own picnic table and there is plenty of space for kids to play, including a large woodland area where they can explore for hours. No camping trip is complete without toasting marshmallows around the fire pit, which are available to hire from reception. They even come with kindling and logs. For an even more comfortable holiday, there are luxury timber lodges equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Including a private patio with wood fired hot tub, fire pit with pizza oven and a picnic table. These lodges have been renovated by interior designer, Jo Bee, who has just won the Northern Design Awards for the hotel design category! Sleeping up to six, there are two bedrooms, a shower room, a fully fitted kitchen and a large open plan living dining area with a log burner, Smart TV and internet. Don't forget to visit the site's three adorable alpacas, Dorothy, Ethel and Audrey, who you will find grazing the field next to the campsite.

There are dog washing facilities, as well as a dog walking field, and bike cleaning facilities available on site.

Fresh coffee and croissants are served at the site's own coffee shop. The coffee shop takes pre-orders only during the winter season and in the summer its opening times are 7 to 9.30am daily, although this does vary according to the time of year.

The Brownie Barn is next door and is open all day Friday to Sunday selling smoothies, brownie milkshakes, ice cream, freshly-roasted coffee and their award-winning chocolate brownies. There is also a small shop onsite stocking the essentials.

VW-Type Campervan - Premium Hardstanding PitchesOct 2025

Booked this site following a video from a popular YouTube-er and was very pleased. The site is down a tight road with potholes, but once you're at the site, you'll realise it was all worthwhile. Pitch locations are great (although some are better than others). Reception staff were very helpful and no job was too much for them. The facilities were spotless. I have given 5 stars for this before, but having been here, they either need to allow 6 stars or I should have put 4 stars for my other reviews. There are alpacas onsite that you can visit at feeding time or even book a picnic with. There is also a brownie barn less than 5 minutes walk away. They served sandwiches, snacks, wood-fired pizzas and… brownies. It was a bit pricey, but you pay for the convenience. The only negatives we had was that the site is very dark at night. No lights at all apart from a small one near the wash up station. It can also be quite steep which is a bit treacherous in the wet, especially on a dark night. Overall though I would definitely recommend this site and we are looking forward to visiting it again in the New Year.

Single Axle Caravan - Premium Hardstanding PitchesOct 2025

Such a wonderful, well kept, and clean campsite. It even has mountain hare hopping round the site, and has an alpaca farm. It is so peaceful. The only thing I need to mention is get your timing right, as its about 1mile of single lane and then another 400m of single lane with potholes to get to the site. We got lucky. Check google map beforehand.
