Things to do in Port Isaac
The beautifully rugged coastline surrounding Port Isaac is typical of Cornwall's north coast - but no less breathtaking for it. Views overlooking the villages' harbour are some of Cornwall's very best and feature a mix of multi-coloured houses surrounding the beachfront.
Given the scenery, it's no surprise that the village has become a popular filming location for TV series such as Poldark, where scenes are regularly shot here. The village also became the fictional Portwenn for the Doc Martin series, and fans can grab a photo outside the good doctor's home on Roscarrock Hill.
Walkers and wanderers should explore the South West Coast Path with a cliff top walk to the unspoilt Port Gaverne. The sheltered inlet there is perfect for rock pooling as well as chilling out on a sandy beach. There is also a great pub here, the perfect place to stop and enjoy a local Cornish ale or two.
If you fancy taking to the water and spotting some of the local wildlife, there are regular boat and fishing trips in the summer months.
Circular walking routes that head south to Port Quin are also spectacular and offer great photo opportunities, while those seeking the best beaches will love nearby Polzeath and Daymer Bay, both just four miles away.
Cyclists shouldn't miss the hugely popular Camel Trail - a fabulous 18 mile route stretching from Padstow to Wenford Bridge, via Wadebridge and Bodmin.
