Crooklands, Milnthorpe, Cumbria & Lake District

Site aerial

Whether you're exploring the Dales or the Lakes, Little Acre Camping is ideal - only a 15 minute drive from both. Relax in the tent here and take the pooch for a stroll by the peaceful Lancaster Canal (just adjacent to site) or hop on a convenient bus to Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale (both just 7 miles away). Just across the road, about 100 metres away is the popular dog friendly Crooklands Hotel, with a bar and very good food served all day.

Lovely stay at this campsite for exploring the lake district. Canal nearby which was nice for running along and taking a walk with the kids. Some noise from road from big lorries but didn't really affect us. Would return to this park again as owners lovely as well and gave us lots of local u for about places to visit

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2021

It’s ideal for exploring the lakes and morecombe areas. There are two shower/toilet/wash blocks. The campsite was not that busy when I was there so access to them was fine but increasing the shower and toilet capacity would be handy. All were spotlessly clean. There is a fairly busy road running adjacent to the campsite so there is some noise. Staff were very helpful indeed. I’d use it again.

Site's response

Thank you for the 5/5 rating and lovely review. We've now started the process of adding a new shower / loo block & laundry facilities - it'll take a while, but once they're in place, it'll be a very welcome addition. Paul

This campsite was such a good find. Pet friendly, very clean and a lovely friendly atmosphere, in tranquil surroundings, close enough to many attractions. The proprietor couldn't do enough to help and checked in periodically to ensure everything was ok. The site has a really friendly atmosphere and has a stunning river opposite that is perfect for tranquil, safe dog walks. There is a lovely pub opposite that offers a great menu. The camp site was also trialing pizza night on a Friday where a pizza chef cooks the food on-site, which is a really nice idea. The shower, washing up and toileting facilities are kept well-stocked and very clean. Showers are 20p for a 3 minute duration which I didn't mind because you have a shower room which is much more comfortable than just having a shower cubicle. The campsite was silent by 10pm with no disturbances. I would highly recommend this campsite to anyone and certainly hope to return again in the near distant future.

Thank you Jane. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and the things to do around and about. It would be good to host you again in the future in "Jane W Corner". Paul

Just had a really lovely 6 night stay at this site. It was busy as we arrived on a bank holiday weekend but we still had lots of space. Owner advised shower and toilet blocks being upgraded as soon as they are able to but we never had to wait for a shower, they cost 20p but I think it focuses people to not take all day in there and they were always clean with shower gel, conditioner and shampoo provided. Owners were great, friendly, welcoming and always busy doing something around the site with lots of tips on where to eat and visit. Pub just up the road which is dog friendly, lovely walk along the canal just opposite the site. Viaited Kendal and Grange over sands and took the train from Oxenholme to Windermere so lots to do in the area. Fresh pizza van on site as a trial on the Friday, pizzas were lovely and they seemed to go down well with everyone so hopefully they will be regular visitors. Will definitely return, thank you for a great stay

Site's response

Thank you Jenny. Hopefully if we host you again "project shower block" will have come into fruition for everyone to use and enjoy. We have 3 showers onsite and at our busiest times, extra capacity would be appreciated by everyone. Ben the Pizza Man is back again this Friday, so it looks like Friday Night is Pizza Night will become a regular thing - it was certainly popular last Friday. Here's to next time. Paul

Great little site for motorhomes and caravans but with limitations for tents.

A hidden gem of a site for caravanners and motorhomes right on the edge of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. However we were camping and as such the site did have some limitations. Let's get the negatives out of the way first and there are only the two - firstly unless you are fortunate enough to be on the first 3-4 pitches, you will be pitching on rather a steep (but not unmanageable) slope. Be prepared to slide out of your bed though during the night due to the slope, and secondly the road noise from the traffic using the B6385 and A65 is quite annoying, especially the number of large trucks which seemed to use these roads both late at night and early, early morning so if falling out of your bed during the night doesn't wake you up the traffic noise very well might. On the positive side the site is otherwise friendly, clean and offers good value for money, with large pitches and electric hookup. You also have the bonus of a great little pub within a couple hundred meters!

Site's response

Thank you for the review of your camping trip Bill. You're absolutely correct about the top part of the tent field having a slope to it, but it not being unmanageable - the positive thing is that the slope means that the tent field drains very well and never floods. The B6305 and A65 seems to run with various volumes of traffic and unfortunately during your stay it sounds like the amount of traffic was higher, rather than lower. Hopefully if you were to come back again, traffic flow would be back to normal. Paul
