A small yet simple and scenic site with lakeside views, Side Farm is sandwiched between the beauty of Ullswater and Place Fell. Languish in the peace and tranquillity or use this as your perfect, dog friendly base for boating, canoeing and great walks.
About Side Farm Campsite
There are flat pitches to be had here on grass and the site overlooks shimmering Ullswater itself. Soak up the tranquillity with the simplicity of a non electric pitch. The site isn't suitable for large vehicles, but it's perfect for tents and small day van type campervans No advance bookings here, it's a turn up and pitch (rather than book) kind of place. Do get there early on bank holiday weekends, as things can get busy!
The site is open from Easter to October.
Simple site facilities include toilets, hot showers, basins and a separate area for washing pots and pans. Clothes washing and drying machines are available too. The farm has a tasty tea room too!

Things to do on site and in the Penrith area
Walkers are absolutely pampered, with tempting trails all around. Walk the valley floor in either direction, explore the fells, or take a brisk 20 minute walk to the pub (after all, you've earnt it).
You'll find a path for curious feet to explore between Howtown and Patterdale, or you can head to Glenridding and board one of the famous Ullswater Steamers.
This is a good base for climbing Helvellyn and taking a good stab at Striding Edge.
