Social District is a beautifully positioned, back to nature base for camping with exclusive direct access to Lake Windermere. About Social District
This is a back to nature pop-up site, spread across 50 acres of grassland and charming woodland. 500 yards of lake frontage add to the gorgeous views and make for some amazing sunsets. There are 30 grass pitches for tents only, set in a beautiful field surrounded by nature. Just opposite the campsite is an interesting English Heritage museum based at a wooden bobbin mill. Also in easy reach down the road is a YMCA camping base where you'll be able to book and enjoy outdoorsy activities and team building exercises. Up to two dogs are allowed per pitch and with this being an idyllic countryside retreat, it's the perfect chase for you and your four-legged pals. Fire pits are allowed in the provided fire pits, as long as they stay raised off the ground.
The site is open for Easter, May bank holidays and from 26th May to 31st August.
Back to basics facilities include drinking water taps and toilet block. Please note that showers are not provided.
The Lakeside and Swan spa hotels are only a five and 10 minute drive away, each with an excellent restaurant. The Anglers Arms is around a ten minute drive away at Haverthwaite and The Boathouse Cafe at Fell Park is a similar distance.

Most perfect campsite we have stayed in. The lake is right next to the site is perfect for a swim. I wasn't expecting any facilities as it's a green wilderness site. However, was very pleased with the shower and toilet facilities. Owner greeted us, had conversations with us and made us feel very comfortable. Will 100% be returning. Perfect secret site.

Great view and friendly site. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a couple of wet days but when the sun came out, it was idyllic. Would stay again.

Just a stones throw away is the Lake Windermere ferry, allowing you to glide across the lake and reach beautiful Windermere village with parks, shops, restaurants, activities such as boat hire and tours etc. It's the ideal start to a day of exploring.
