Hemsford Yurt Camp is close to Totnes, in a rural valley near the South Devon coast. You'll be in easy striking distance of Torquay, Paignton and the whole English Riviera from these family friendly Mongolian yurts and a vintage shepherd's hut. Each is fully equipped for a self catering holiday with a difference. It's a short drive from some of the fabulous clean beaches along the South Devon coastline, too.

About Hemsford Yurt Camp

This glamping site is located in a beautiful part of South Devon, only a 3 mile drive from the nearest town of Totnes or a leisurely stroll to one of the fabulous country pubs in the nearest village at Littlehempston. Take in the wonderful clear dark skies and a wealth of flowers and butterflies as you sit and watch in an unspoiled location. You're just 6 miles from Dartmoor, and 5 miles from the town of Torquay. The camp is small and can be hired for exclusive use for family parties and get togethers, or just for a lovely family or couple's break. Each of the yurts can sleep from 2-6 people, and the shepherd's hut can sleep up to four people. The yurts have full sized beds and are comfortably furnished with wood burning stoves. With outside seating areas, fire pits and views over the meadow and lake, this is the place to relax and unwind.

The shepherd's hut is available all year round, while yurts are available from Easter to the end of September.

There is a fully equipped communal kitchen in a converted stable, along with an outside field kitchen under cover. Guests have access to shared flushing toilets and hot showers.

Site rules and policies

We cannot accept dogs due to the proximity of livestock.

We do not accept large single sex groups (hens and stags) out of respect for the quiet nature of our location.

Things to do on site and in the Totnes area

Guests are free to explore the site's fields and livestock, including a wide range of poultry and horses, dogs and cats. Children can help fetch eggs from Hemsford's free range hens, and can pond dip (under supervision) in the large lake. This is the perfect place for kids who love adventure and imaginary games - it even has its own unicorn, which has proved a very popular attraction!

Located nearby are horse riding stables, there are many theme parks and attractions in the local area, including the award winning Paignton Zoo, Pennywell Farm - home of the micro pigs, South Devon Railway, an otter sanctuary and a butterfly farm for nature lovers.

Walkers will be made very welcome with stunning landscapes and lovely routes on Dartmoor or around the South Devon coastline. Atlhough, you many prefer to sit and chill and take in the ambiance of the quiet Devon countryside.
