About Butcombe New Woods
Nestled amongst acres of glorious countryside within the Mendip Hills AONB, you'll enjoy private use of a quiet five acre woodland surrounded by fields of sheep and a wooded valley. You have a sunny clearing to pitch your tents, 37m x 13m of grass with five small fruit trees. A fire pit is provided, along with a sack of fire wood. There's no electricity supply on site, some solar lighting is provided but this is essentially a wilderness camping experience with all the basics. This site is for tents only, no vehicles are allowed on site. Parking is immediately outside the entrance to the field and there's a 60m walk to the camping area (largely level but with a short gentle downhill slope as you enter the field). Wheelbarrows are provided to make your arrival easy.
Butcombe New Woods is open from 3rd to 6th May, 24th May to 1st June, 26th June to 1st July and then for the summer holidays.
Facilities include a compost toilet, a sink with running water and a cold water shower. A fire pit (with a sack of fire wood) is also provided. There are some solar lights but please bring a torch.
Blagdon village is roughly 35 minutes walk away with a range of pubs and a local shop.

Blagdon Lake is a short walk on footpaths which take you around this scenic spot in the Mendips.
The Aldwick Estate run vineyard tours and are located just a 20 minute walk from the site.
You are in the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with plenty to explore here and a network of trails taking you through the Chew Valley. The area is also popular with cyclists.
Weston-super-Mare is a popular seaside resort, or there are quieter beaches and coastal walks either side of Weston.
