About Bowdens Crest Caravan and Camping Park
Bowdens Crest is situated high up above the small historic county town of Langport. It's hard to imagine Langport as it would have been at the turn of the century, with its ships and barges bringing produce up the River Parret. Now, in the 21st century, it is a quiet, sleepy town with shops that still close on Wednesday afternoon. The opening of a Tesco supermarket was a major event for Langport, but it's still the only shop open on Sundays in this very traditional Somerset market town. The park commands panoramic views over the Somerset Levels, River Parrett, Vale of Taunton Deane and on to Brendon Hill and Exmoor. The Quantock Hills form a grand backdrop to the lower moors. From the old vineyard, on a clear day, you can see for approximately 30 miles over green unbuilt land, a sight hardly seen in today's England. There's a fantastic range of pitches with options on hardstanding or grass, with and without electric, though the pitches don't enjoy the same views as the rest of the site.. Because of its setting, the park cannot and will not ever flood. However, the ground is in general eight inches of top soil and then onto White Lias Rock. This is very beneficial when it rains as the land drains extremely well. But it does mean that ground is still very hard at all times and bringing rock pegs is recommended (but they are sold on site if you forget). This park offers you the chance to unwind and relax in lovely Somerset countryside.
