Things to do in Bridgwater
This bustling English market town and its attractive canal is ideal for a relaxing and fun getaway.
The Bridgwater Blake Museum is situated within a 16th century house, believed to be the birthplace of Robert Blake - a renowned English admiral - and giving you a window into the history of the town as well as the surrounding area.
Set sail from there to the Somerset Brick and Tile Museum, which is the kind of quirky option few could pass up. On special event days kids can get their fingers stuck into the clay and decorate their own tiles.
As you dawdle around the pretty town, keep an eye out for the Corn Exchange, the statue of Robert Blake, as well as the Church of St Mary - a few famous local landmarks. From there, exploring the Bridgwater Docks and along the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal on foot is a great way to pass the time.
Time to stretch your legs a little more? Hillwalkers who don't mind a fair climb will be well rewarded with their efforts on reaching the top of Burrow Mump which is not far from the town. At the top are a few hidden gems - attractive church ruins and stunning panoramic views.
