About Bert's

You'll love the feel of getting back to nature at Bert's, set on an idyllic 13 acre farm on the Llyn Peninsula. Follow the track through the woods to discover a private shingle beach, where you can spend your days kayaking, paddleboarding, and exploring the shoreline. For those who prefer sandy beaches, it's a short five minute walk via the coastal path to Trefor. Plus, just a 35 minute drive will take you to the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, where you can explore the area's natural beauty. Whatever you end up doing, Bert's is the perfect place to set up camp. Ideal for tents and small campervans, the campsite is centred around a thriving kitchen garden, providing a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Spacious grass pitches are carefully mowed out from the wild meadows with breathtaking views of the mountains, with campervan pitches tucked away amidst the surrounding woodlands. For those who want to be closer to the sea, a handful of beach tent pitches offer amazing views! Alternatively, choose to stay in the paddock's riverside pitches for tents. These pitches provide a tranquil setting, with the gentle sounds of the river adding to the soothing atmosphere. You'll surely enjoy a memorable camping experience, whichever option you choose. As the light fades, the campfires will start to glow, and many an evening can be spent sitting around the communal fires with friends old and new. If you're seeking a glamping experience, there is also a small collection of shepherd's huts. Sleeping two, these ensuite, cosy huts offer luxurious beds, small kitchenettes, hot showers, and fires to keep guests warm and comfortable. There is also a family hut that sleeps four. Don't forget to book a table during your stay in the restaurant, it's a perfect place for a cocktail and dinner at the end of a long day out exploring.

A note from the site themselves...

We spent four years travelling around the world full time with our kids in tow- exploring, learning and living along the way. Fnally, it was time to pause and find a base, but after all the time away we knew we needed to find something a little different.

So with my husband's desire for mountains and mine for the sea, we found Trefor, a sleepy quarry village on the Llyn Peninsula which is perfectly sandwiched between Yr Eifl and the Irish Sea.

Small Tent - Non Electric Meadow Camping PitchesSep 2023

This site is possibly the most beautiful eco-camping in Wales. A few minutes walk from a swimmable beach and scenic headland. The pitches are on small grass circles in between areas of wild meadow between trees along a rushing river and the compost loos are well designed & maintained. Many places to explore & play for kids. To maintain the biodiversity, the camping is closed on weekdays & at beginning/end of season so check dates carefully.

Small Tent - Non Electric Meadow Camping PitchesAug 2023

Bert's is a very well run campsite with an up-market eco vibe. Compost loos serve the beach and riverside fields with secluded individual plots providing privacy. The meadow pitches are closer to the amenities including hot showers, restaurant and pantry where you can store chilled and frozen food and get hot water. While again each plot is individually laid out, they are more open and have a communal feel, especially for the children roaming the site. Great option if you want to pay a little extra for good amenities without losing the back-to-nature feel.
