Things to do in Abersoch
Abersoch is a bustling Welsh village located in Gwynedd on the Llyn Peninsula, drawing in both families and action lovers.
Love the beach? Then check out Abersoch Main Beach which is a great spot for watersports, with safe conditions for swimming. Its sheltered calm has made it popular with windsurfers and there are no rough waves.
Abersoch Harbour Beach is also a pretty spot to explore by the River Soch, particularly at low tide when visitors can enjoy the exposed sand. Not far beyond you’ll find Abderdaron Beach’s surfing haven and Porth Colmon Beach for its quiet seclusion and rocky harbour.
Whistling Sands Beach - known for the distinctive noise the moving sand particles make - are also lovely spots for families and outdoor enthusiasts.
Whichever beach you choose, Abersoch Sailing School provides a variety of exciting activities that will please action seekers of all ages. Sailing, paddle boarding, powerboating and Ringo rides provide brilliant fun on the water.
Seaside pubs and restaurants are in no short supply to enjoy delicious food or a refreshing drink after a busy day of exploring in Abersoch. Sit outside and get to know the locals or try a few Welsh traditional dishes.
The nearby Plas Glyn y Weddw Gallery is a great attraction for art lovers and architectural enthusiasts. Here visitors can explore a beautiful Grade II listed Victorian Gothic mansion and view a variety of art exhibits that are held throughout the year.
Keen to check out the surrounding area too? The Llyn Peninsula boasts several attractive beaches. Hell's Mouth is one of the best surfing spots in Wales - though the name is your first clue of the strong tides and wild waters you can find here. However, nature lovers and families will also enjoy visiting this pretty beach.
The headlands around Abersoch are a haven for wildlife, while a number of attractive villages can be explored nearby too such as Llanbedrog and Llangian.
The nearby National Trust property Plas yn Rhiw is also well worth visiting and the Snowdonia National Park can be reached in less than an hour by car.
From Abersoch, the seal population on the beautiful St Tudwal’s Islands is close at hand.
