About the site
Set in the heart of the Dovedale Valley, this site is surrounded by top hiking trails. Centrally located in the Lake District, you will be just 20 minutes from Windermere and Ullswater, great for mooching around charming villages, picking up a boat trip or hiring a paddleboard!
The site is home to 90 spacious unmarked pitches. Simply turn up and choose your preferred spot. The pitches allow tents only, with a maximum of six guests per pitch.
Onsite, you will also find camping pods, touring pitches and five electric hardstanding pitches that are exclusively for Caravan and Motorhome Club members. The 'bunkhouse' offers rooms for two to six people, ideal for families and large groups.
For a delicious meal or a refreshing tipple, head to the onsite pub, The Brotherswater Inn. Enjoy tasty morning breakfast baps, a weekend lunch service, and amazing pub dinners every evening. Do note, booking is essential if you want to ensure a table.
Dogs can join you for your adventure, with up to four canine companions allowed per pitch. There is even a dedicated walking area for stretching their legs!
If you want to cook al fresco, raised fire pits and BBQs are permitted. Bricks can also be supplied for elevating disposable BBQs.

There is a heated shower and toilet block at the top of the campsite with shaving sockets and power points. Please note that, hot water is not charged for but may run cool for a time during very busy periods.
There is also a laundry room, with washers and dryers, an indoor washing up area and a large dog walking area. There is an onsite shop (normally open 8am to 6pm) stocking food, camping essentials and maps, with ice pack refreezing available.
Brotherswater Inn is the onsite pub. The usual opening hours are Monday to Friday 4pm - 10pm, Saturday and Sunday 12 noon - 10pm. Breakfast baps are available every morning. Lunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm until 2pm. Booking is essential. Free WiFi is available in the Inn and the shop. There are also two EV charging points in the pub car park.
The nearest supermarkets are found in both Windemere (20 minutes away) and Penrith (30 minutes away). Fishing is available in Brotherswater which is a 15 minute walk away.
Unassigned non electric grass pitches, simply choose your own spot. Suitable for tents only. The site does not accept groups booking together of more than six adults.

Lots of bins to get rid of rubbish. Good value for money.
Book early if you want to eat in the pub as it was booked out all weekend.

What time is check-in and check out at Sykeside Camping Park?
Check-in is available from 1pm until 8pm. Please let the site know if you are delayed and they may be able to arrange a late check-in for you for up to 9:45pm. Check out is due before 11am on your final day.
Is Sykeside Camping Park dog-friendly?
Your four-legged friend is more than welcome here and is allowed on the campsite and in the Brotherswater Inn. There's also a dog walking area halfway down the driveway. Please just make sure your dog is kept on their lead and supervised at all times.

For those after the al fresco dining experience, raised BBQs and campfires in raised fire pits are allowed. Please note, all fires and BBQs must be extinguished by 11pm.
Does Sykeside Camping Park allow awnings, gazebos or pup tents?
Yes, awnings, gazebos and pup tents are allowed. Please make sure to select this as an option when booking. For those bringing a pup tent, it must fit within your pitch and not be used by adults for sleeping.
Does Sykeside Camping Park allow group bookings?
Group bookings of up to six adults are accepted, groups larger than 6 adults are not permitted, neither are hen and stag parties. Pitches aren't assigned so you can choose where you pitch, however it isn't guaranteed that you will be able to pitch next to other tents in your group.
Can I park near my pitch at Sykeside Camping Park? Or is there parking adjacent to the pitch?
During the summer, you can park on the grass next to your pitch. If there is a heavy rainfall, guests are asked not to park on the grass to avoid getting stuck or damaging the site. In the winter there is a small car park nearby the pitches where guests can park.

Free WiFi is available in the onsite shop and pub. But please note, the rest of the site has limited mobile reception.

Things to do on site and in the Penrith area
Ullswater is only ten minutes away, known as one of the most scenic lakes in the Lake District. You can hop on an Ullswater 'Steamer' boat for a relaxing trip across the lake, or enjoy walking routes like the Ullswater Way. The lake is also great for paddleboarding or kayaking if you fancy getting out on the water.
Aira Force Waterfall is also only 15 minutes away. This impressive 65-foot waterfall is set in an ancient woodland and is one of the most popular waterfalls in the Lake District. There's a circular walk through the trees and across old stone bridges, with places to stop and take photos!
Lake Windermere is within a 20 minute drive, the largest lake in England. You can hire a rowing boat, take a lake cruise, or walk along the shoreline. The area is also full of great spots to eat, from cosy cafés to lakeside restaurants with lovely views.
For those holidaying with little ones, The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction is 25 minutes from the site. Step into the world of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and all the other beloved characters. The colourful displays bring the stories to life and are just as magical for adults who grew up with the books!
