Shallow Grange Farm has the right combination of eco friendly ethos and a location worth travelling for - sitting just three miles from Buxton in the activity-filled Peak District National Park. Campfires welcome and fishing provided on site.
This working sheep farm is home to 110 luxurious acres of grassed farmland, with views across Derbyshire's green hills - and excellent stargazing at night thanks to its location in a Dark Sky area. Today the site offers camping with the comfort of flat and well drained pitches, for tents and tourers, including electric. Only small motorhomes up to 7m can be accepted. It's a pleasant space, environmentally friendly and steeped in a spot of history - this was where an iconic Sherwood regiment once camped, at the turn of the century. One dog per pitch is welcome to join you.
The site is open from Easter until October.
Grass pitches for tents and tourers with optional electric.

Check in is from midday until 8pm. Check out by 11am.
The farm borders Back Dale, which is host to such unusual plant life that it's been named a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It's an ideal place to see pretty orchids and other blooming flowers in the right season.
Buxton isn't just famous for its waters and spa, it's also gateway to mysterious underground trails through Poole's Cavern and a majestic opera house. Try a tasty tart in Bakewell and then work it off by biking the Monsal and Tissington Trails.
If you're keen to have a go at watersports, look no further than Carsington Water, with the reservoir also a beautiful place for a stroll. Chatsworth house makes an excellent day trip, don't miss its beautiful gardens and tasty tea room.
